Picture the Tyson Fury that outplayed the ageing wlad Klitschko. Now put him up against the Ali that had just scraped past Norton in 76. Would the confident Fury defeat this fading champion to? With youth, size and weight advantage all against him, would Tyson be taking home the belt. Or does Muhammad still just have a little to much magic for the fighting gypsy?

Fury can't fight a lick. Most amateurish hwt champion to ever exist. Ali of 76 who was in outstanding condition for his bout with Norton outclasses Fury over 15 rounds.

Ali`s weight would have been key in 2 ways against Fury, the lighter he was the faster he was as in he shed weight to fight Cooper in their second fight for more speed to avoid Henry`s hook and he was never quicker, he would need speed like that to get in and out while avoiding Fury`s amazing reach but as he got heavier Ali slowed but was able to absorb punishment from killers like Foreman and Shavers, by 1976 Ali was a lot heavier than in the 60`s and a lot slower, he came into the ring very often in dreadful shape I don`t know which fights you were referring to near or in this time frame he fought Shavers and looked awful though I don`t know if Fury could have beat Shavers! He fought the thriller in Manilla and was completely out of shape but sowed grit beyond belief, I don`t believe Fury would fight Ali that way and no way could Ali stick and move well with that flab he also fought Lyle (another fighter that may have beat Fury) but again all he did was the rope a dope in the early rounds without throwing much then there was the dubious win over Norton and no way could Ali beat Fury on the strength of that fight despite having some good moments, so I think I disagree with you, maybe the Ali of 76 could have beat Fury but he would have struggled a lot more than you are suggesting.

"Dreadful shape" "Completely out of shape" "Flab"
And you're talking about Ali here against Tyson Fury?

You are completely mistaken. Ali was in world class shape for his bout with Frazier in Manila. Ali himself stated minutes after the bout was stopped....."if I was not in the great condition I was in I would have definitely lost. ".

The most amateurish HW champion in history would have outclassed Wladimir Klitschko over twelve. Get a grip.

    No in a word.

Even if Tyson somehow beat Ali once, his short prime would not permit him to take a trilogy.

You have to remember janitor, this Ali was really starting to struggle. He was just a year away from losing to spinks. Whilst I'm not claiming that fat Fury is atg status, he could have just had that awkward strange style to mess Ali about. He still had some left but was in decline. I've actually voted for ALI to win but wouldn't be surprised if he'd pulled off the upset. He shouldn't win but Ali may allow him to, if you get me.

I think that just maintaining world level performances over a four year period might be too much for Fury.

Just the last Norton fight im referring to janitor mate. Fury puts it together for one night against a battle weary champion in wlad. He's facing a slower, weary Ali here. He could take Tyson lightly, see him as a joker and pay the price.

Perry, the ones who lived through those times are aware that Ali struggled with tall fighters. He fought 3 men 6-5 or 6-6 and the fights were scheduled for 40 total rounds and that's how many rounds they lasted. Duke Sabedong (16-16-2), who was stopped by Alejandro Lavorante is in his previous fight took Ali the full 10 rounds, 6-6 stringbean, Ernie Terrell went 15 with Ali, and even club fighter, Chuck Wepner went into the 15th with Ali and knocked Ali down. Any veteran of the Ali age of boxing would know that tall fighters were Ali's Achilles heel.

What an absolute load of rubbish.
There was no discussion then that Ali struggled with tall fighters, there's a rewriting of history here.
Sabedong was 19 year old Ali's 7th fight, he did have one distinction he was the first fighter to be judged as taking a round off Ali, and that was it one judge gave him a round, the other two judges gave it to Ali on a 10-0 shut out.
Terrell was carried for the full 15 rounds, he was lucky if he won 2 rounds and that's being generous, everyone knows it was a one sided beatdown.
As for Wepner the same applies he won at most 2 rounds and one of those was gifted with the so called "knockdown" when he stood on Ali's foot and caught him off balance as he was backing up.
So in those 40 rounds the total rounds won by these giants was lucky if it was 5.
Yea they were certainly some "Achilles heel" to Ali.
