Not only that, its a stupid example because Ali dominated the fight from start to finish. He was overconfident and got caught with his arms low. He got off the floor to win in the round he predicted. Tyson got dominated from start to finish except for the knockdown. He never got off the floor to win a fight.
Only an idiot thinks one fight dictates a career if thats the case we always use the Ali SAVED by the bell to a 180 pounder( losing to Frazier ACTUALLY TWICE) . Its stupid to resort to that but its like children going back and forth except the smart ones see through smoke and mirrors......some see through it anyway but want to be dumb i guess and show other posters they arent to bright?
Yea bc we know how troublesome Tyson thought the 6'4 230 pound Douglas was???lmao listen kid...Tyson actually wanted Hulk Hogan instead of Douglas as a last resort as some freak side fight show at WWF( at the time) or a real fight i forget? He said Douglas would have to cut off both his arms to have a chance HIS EXACT quote...Do you think he really trained for this, and hios OWN sparring partner ( McCall telling him he was going to lose )??????..do your home work.......
Just like you bury the heavy bag with your one shot wonder....... Ali>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Tyson.
Tyson wasn't known for being the sharpest pencil in the pencil case, you're right about Douglas though. His mind was occupied with Greg Page who was dropping him more times than a whores drawers.......
Oh dont worry about my training kiddo...you'll see plenty more where that came from ON HOW TO ACTUALLY PUNCH. as your last statement only proves my point...see not to bright are you?
The scenario is exactly the same. -Ali thought cooper was just another eurobum and hyped up the fight that way. He even predicted the round he would stop him. -Tyson thought douglass was a weak journeyman with no chance. It was promoted as a warm up before the holyfield fight. He showed little respect for douglass. The difference? Both were humiliated but Ali did what he was suppsed to do and stop the "bum". Tyson was completely dominated from start to finish. Its a stupid comparison. Every champion has an awkward moment with a "lesser" fighter and has to take care of business. Joe Louis had galento, liston had marty marshall, etc. Tyson is the only lineal HW champion to fold and stay folded against a far inferior opponent. You think he didnt train properly? Guess what, George Foreman had a layoff and wasnt in the best shape for Lyle and got off the floor to win. Ali was flabby and out of shape against wepner and didnt think much of him and he got off the floor to win. Lennox Lewis was fat, clearly didnt do any cardio and wheezing after just 3 rounds against Vitali and did what he was supppsed to do and win. Even wladmir klitshko was bounced around by the far inferior samuel peter and he did what he was suppsed to do and win. Every champion gets lazy at some point and has an awkward moment but a true champion doesnt allow his reign to end to a bum. Stop with the excuses.
You missed the entire point however ...one guy was SAVED by the bell by a light hitter who not even 1/4 Tyson power the other took ona SHW and arguably won with questionable count at his worst... Sorry these are facts...wheather Tyson won or lost to Buster is irrelevant...as someone else stated desperate posters bring up Douglas who would nt be the Tyson most would use....YOU know this stop playing dumb...you are playing right? SMH
First of all there is no such as thing as "saved by the bell" in boxing. Those are the rules, fight for 3 minutes then cease all actions. Its coopers fault he couldnt land the hook earlier and capitalize it. The fact he got stopped in the very next round indicates he got lucky and was never on Alis level. Second, how on Earth do you claim Tyson "arguably won" against Douglas? Are you high? He lost nearly every round and was brutally stopped. By your logic Earnie Shavers "arguably won" against Larry Holmes. I mean hey, in both cases one guy dropped the other and looked impressive doing it. Yes, your argument is that silly.
"First of all there is no such as thing as "saved by the bell" in boxing."... Thats like saying if you were pushed on the train tracks and i pulled you up WHILE the train was coming i didnt save your life. Dont be an idiot when we can see in certain fights who was and wasn't. The POINT was Ali blocked few left hooks and Tyson had a faster more compact one than Frazier...do we want to go into power too?????SMH I never said Cooper was on Alis level the same as you idiots are suggesting Tyson wasnt on Douglas ...though if you were offered a million dollars to beat one of the two you would pick cooper ...YOU KNOW THIS though! Stop being foolish lets get back to reality....Tysons vs Douglas fight if anything showed how tough he actually was....you think Frazier pounding Ali in three fight ( with one LEGIT loss isnt enough? )How about the other Ali fights ,that he SELF admitted was tough like Mildenberger who wouldnt even be Tysons sparring partner? ...YOU do realize Tyson threw punches at south paw angle right????Of course you did? SMH........ I said Tyson arguably won bc the count was off....did you even see the Douglas fight?
