Would Tyson have looked more menacing if he got his face tattoo in the 80's?

I personally think he would have looked even better. With that Tattoo and the french beard and would have looked more scary and intimidating to his opponents especially at the staredown.

He would have looked more scary if he'd carried on training like Cus d'Amato taught him and laid off the hoes and coke. KO's are scary. Tattoos are coloured skin.

    No.

He was no frills. He didn't need gimmicks to intimidate opponents.

Tattoos were not part of the dominant culture of the 80s, they were seen as part of either the underclass, or the armed forces particularly the Navy.

So no, it'd make him look like a tramp, or a sailor. These would be the last thing that Cus would want his man to look like, and tyson would be even less interested I would imagine.

People forget that cultures dictate a lot of how we appraise things. What was once gold can now be dust, and dust yesterday can be priceless today. An example are videos of rare boxing fights, which were priceless back in the day but are all on youtube now, 10 a penny.

Lmao. He looks like an immature idiot. You really think how a fighter looks scares another quality fighter? Man, grow up and learn the sport.

I think that the tattoo was just another manifestation of his increasing inability to deliver on the substance.

I think that his obvious focus in his prime, and no frills approach to the sport, was actually a lot more menacing.

At the time it was a pretty big deal in the 1980s that he had his hair bald at the sides. It was pretty new then.

    Tyson was big on intimidation.

Tyson's look in the 80s was uncommonly gritty. His Dempsey inspired hair, no socks, and solid black ring gear gave him an all business appearance that helped raise his star, and yeah, helped him look intinidating.

I have seen a few statues of Tyson where they have drawn up his image from the 80's, bald from the sides, hair on top, youthful face, Mao tatoo on the side, French beard. You factor in his skillset in his prime with that look, pretty menacing.

What's with all the retorts? The Tyson hate is deep with you. You lose focus and true nature. Too bad your hate blinds you from the chosen one and greatest force wielder in boxing history - Iron Mike Tyson.

In the 80's it would've looked out of place. But I agree it would look scary and raise a few eyebrows.

Haha! Glad you caught that Star Wars quip. Patience, young padiwan. Iron Mike (Anakin Skywalker) had the most midichlorian count and the physical capabilities of the chosen one. He rose fast and laid waste to the evil hanger ons who couldn't touch him with their primitive skills. But once his masters began succumbing to age, the dark side crept forth. And what could've been the greatest ever turned into a cyborg like brawler (Darth Vader) whose prime was vanished into thin air.

See the parallels, my young yuleman?

Iirc Tyson actually wanted stars tattood all over his face. The tattoist convinced him a Maori tattoo would be better. Thank goodness.
