In relation to the Tyson Vs Frazier thread.

Simple question, do you think Tyson would outlast Frazier against George Foreman?

    Frazier of the first fight.

    No.
I think 1973 Foreman would hurt him really early and keep hitting him, just like he did to Frazier.

There's some who will say Frazier didn't have the one-punch resistance of Tyson, but I can't see Tyson getting up 6 times either. Also, if you take a few more punches to put down you're taking more punishment to keep you there.
Foreman probably hammers him to the canvas in the 1st or 2nd round, and Tyson isn't making it much further.

    IMO.

Yes, Tyson would hurt Foreman badly and knock him out within 6 rounds. Tyson had the speed and power to find the openings in Foremans sloppy style. The strength of Foreman wouldnt be much of a factor in this one, his chin would let him down.

Definitely. Because Tyson was a faster starter than Frazier,he'd be able to load up on his own big punches to hit George with. Also,Tyson was more evasive than Joe. Tyson would have lost more heavily to Muhammad Ali than Frazier did,but with Foreman it would be the other way round.

Having said all this,I'll always believe that Foreman would still beat Tyson.

Tyson defo wont get up 6 times
But he wont be put on his ass 6 times either.
Especially not in the first or second round

However he could always walk into a big punch which he has done in his fights, Tucker, Bruno...both 1st round

I would expect Tyson to get hit by at least one or two, and more likely SEVERAL big uppercuts within a round or two. And Foreman was a much bigger puncher than Tucker.
Tucker lifted Tyson off his feet, Bruno made Tyson lose his footing. I would fully expect Foreman (who was not only a harder hitter, but had a more lethal killer instinct too) to hammer Mike to the canvas.

The only reason Tyson wouldn't be knocked down six times is he didn't have the heart to keep getting up. Tyson goes down once and is more than happy to be counted out.

I'm not sure Foreman gets out of the second, we're talking about someone who went life and death with Ron Lyle while in their prime here

And Tyson was KTFO by Douglas. In his prime, of course.

If Frazier showed up in shape and took Foreman seriously, he might have even lasted longer. In fact he did in the rematch against a much sharper Foreman(as noted by one of the few commentars worth a damn in Cowsell) despite being physically a broken man.

A more fair comparision would be the Tyson who fought Douglas stepping up against Foreman. I'm not sure he's making it out of the early rounds either.

  11. hahaha great answer unforgiven hahaha :good
in my opinion tyson had better chin than joe TAKING A SINGLE SHOT, but frazier had more heart and he had a strong mind to take a beating. anyway george foreman would knock mike tyson out, 2-5 rounds.

Is the question Tyson against Frazier (of 1973, 1st Foreman fight) or Tyson against Foreman (1973, 1st Frazier fight)?

As good as he was, Frazier was never the same fighter after the first Ali fight. You need look no further than his weight.

Before 72, his average weight was 205. From 72 on, his average was 214 - the same as what he weighed for the first Foreman fight. For whatever reason, he never got into top condition again.

In a twelve round fight, Tyson wins a close decision over the 73 Frazier.

Exactly and ironic that Tyson gets all the slack in the world for his first loss to Douglas. Frazier lost to Foreman with mounting health problems while not taking his career seriously.

Frazier spent time in the hospital during the ensuing month, the exertions of the fight having been exacerbated by his existing health problems, such as hypertension and a kidney infection.

    From this site. .

After Frazier defeated Ali in March of 1971, he toured abroad with his singing group "Joe Frazier and The Knockouts". At this time Frazier is on top of the boxing world and basking in the glory of handing Ali his first defeat as a pro. Since beating Ali, Frazier fought just four times and wasn't anywhere near close to the shape he was in for Ali when he weighed 205. In those four fights Frazier weighed 215 for Terry Daniels, 217 for Ron Stander, 214 for George Foreman and 209 for Joe Bugner. Frazier went 3-1 in those fights stopping Daniels' and Stander, was stopped by Foreman, and decisioned Bugner.

In all fairness that was Foreman's first fight back after Ali took him apart in Zaire.

Tyson would knock Foreman out early. Too much skill, speed, and straight punching for Foreman. Tyson was a much superior two fisted assassin compared to joe frazier.

    Tyson TKO 3 Foreman
