Vitali's eye could have been irreversibly damaged and you think it was stopped too early?

Medical experts exist for a reason.

    Yeah, this.

Look, I suppose it's possible that Lewis would have collapsed in the 7th and that Vitali would have had his Rocky Balboa moment. It's also possible that Vits would have gotten f*cked up so badly by the punches that he couldn't see anymore that he'd be walking around with duct tape on his face for the rest of his life, to keep it on.

Docs did the only thing they could have done imho.

I'm still waiting for confirmation that you wrote that Lewis never gassed in 5 rounds before. I don't want you to try weasel your way out of this by claiming your little sister used the computer or somesuch nonsense.

And when you are waiting for the bus to turn up, do you let it drive off without you and just stand around still waiting for it once its gone?

u getting an idea of how nutjob u look to everyone here yet?

meanwhile ...I'm waiting for something YOU are avoiding writing for two pages, and counting.

in the opinion of someone who holds that lewis was more marked up than vitali, that a fantastic compliment.

now, back into your RNIB cubbyhole that they tell you is a mansion.

"TKO 6" the documentary was the last great heavyweight fight.

Lennox looked exhausted between rounds, possibly a bit more exhausted than Vitali but Vitali was getting the worse of exchanges and held on with that death grip in the waning moments of Round 5.

Was Vitali fading quickly? I'd say yes.

    Legit stoppage.

I don't think you'd find many that don't think it was a legit stoppage. I think people more focus on the 'what if Vitali hadn't got cut?' aspect.

Who knows. I think it'll go down as a fight no one will ever forget. Because the cut will always have a 'what if?' above it.

that would be "what if vitali had bothered to defend himself", then he'd not have won a round with his blitzkrieg tactic.

Right. You can't say "without the cut...what if?"

This is exactly why I typed "Legit stoppage", because there is no 'what if?' above it. The stoppage is a correct way to ending a boxing match. Stoppages because of bad cuts are a part of the rules.

I never doubted it. But I'm more than happy to say cuts aren't a frequent fight ender at this level. The cut happened, and Lewis targetted it, like he should. The fight was stopped, as it should of been. But it was hardly satisfying. Hence why there will ALWAYS be a 'what if?' regardless if you deny it or not. Hence why there's 1001023 threads about it.

There are a million threads about it because Vitali's fans b*tch and bemoan that it wasn't a "Legit Stoppage". Too bad that it was.

Would've been nice to see a rematch, though.

Besides fanboys no one denies it should be stopped. The disappointment comes from the fact such an interesting fight ended so prematurely. Cuts are a legitimate stoppage, but they don't determine who the better fighter was. Especially if the one who won was behind on the cards. Lewis cut vitali and targeted it to win. His win was legitimate. But it will never be seen as a legitimate KO by the majority.
