Don't wait too long. I asked another question yesterday that was completely ducked. Who in the last 15 years has fought and beat as many world class fighters and champion as has DLH?
Yeah... I would say he's an ATG. Also I judge fighters on losing performances too... He did well enough.
what the hell has PBF or Mosley gotta do with this thread:huh ok the list you`ve give me. ATG?????? Mosely, Winky and Tito....NO. Mayweather:think....not a fan of PBF. There`s alot of fights that should`ve happened over the years that didn`t. Cotto, Mosely and now Pacquiao that come to mind. Though every challenger he`s faced, he`s seen off. Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, Judah, Hatton and Oscar. I`ve been saying Mayweather needs Pacquiao to be an ATG, but now we`ve kissed that goodbye. I`d say he`s an ATG,....just. Oscar HOF:good ATG:nono
Those names came up in context of who people are currently rating above DLH. The names I highlighted would and did, as in the case of Gatti, have been disposed of quicker by DLH and DLH's comp is higher than those posted. No one is discrediting Hopkins, RJJ, Mayweather, Pacquaio, but the argument is if DLH is not an ATG than neither are any of those others. It comes down to the fact that everyone has ancient fighters on their ATG lists filled with fights they've never even seen that no modern fighter can even be considered an ATG. Personally I consider them all ATG except for Winky.
:deal agree:thumbsup I don`t think you can add Corrales, Gatti and Castillo to the list of ATG. Hopkins, Jones, Pacquiao are ATG, and Mayweather too though he`d be below all three fighters IMO. I`m not a hater of DLH, I just think there`s too many fighters in todays era that are considered Great or Legendary. Oscar has been great for the sport of boxing, but he`s not an ATG fighter.
no. his prime was too short, and lost too many big fights. he turned pro in 92 and by around 2000 he was slipping. it takes about three years for a prospect to really hit his peak so being genourous his peak was about five years from 1995-2000, maybe even around 1996-1999. his one fight where he won that was big after 2000 was vargas, and that was already after tito molested him. he's not even a candidate for a top ten fighter between 2000-2009. yes he got robbed in tito and maybe mosley 2, but how about all the fights that went his way that he should have lost quartey, whitiker, sturm. he was a very good fighter but not great. switched trainers too many times, and always blamed others for his losses rather than himself. he should have staved with manny steward.
Whitaker and Quartey could have gone either way. Sturm was a robbery, a fight he lost, but Mosley 2 and Tito were clear Oscar victories. Only 3 fights really go down as robberies in Oscar's career, and he won 2 of em. And how is Mosley being rated ahead of Oscar now? Because he beat Margarito? Oscar has bigger wins then Mosley and won more titles in more divisions. In reality Oscar is 1-1 with Shane with a victory over Tito a level fighter that Shane doesnt have on his resume. **** what the judges said
I agree with all of this although I had Oscar winning both the Quartey and Pernell fight but they were very close. I did have Oscar losing against Sturm
Olympic gold medalist and 5 weight division champ "ALL major belts" not minor belts and the all time money maker. I know we always tend to discredit a fighters career and even myself has done it in the past. But then again it's easy to discredit any fighters wins or loses. We tend to forget how hard is a the career of a boxer. I could make an excuse and discredit any fighters career. Is it fair? No, but it's part of boxing. DLH has accomplish a lot for the sport of boxing, love him or hate him. Just ask yourself what fighter past or present has accomplish what DLH has done. Then decide if he's ATG material.
Yeah, that's crazy. He started as a super-featherweight, and was fighting the best middleweight since Marvin Hagler, who subsequently moved up and whipped ass at light heavyweight. That's balls.
