Compare Valuev to Zhang. By round 4 Zhang is blowing out his arse. Valuev was still chugging along in round 11-12. Some people have Zhang top 5. I think Valuev is easily top 10 in this era.

Yeh but ive said that he sneaks in, and how could you not think his era was poor, Look at Valuev beat, mostly 215-230lbs, fat and old to very old. Who was the biggest puncher he faced?

Zhang pushed a much superior fighter in Hrgovic close, despite blowing out of his ass, he still got 2 10-8 rounds and maybe another couple against Parker. And knocked a fellow huge man brutally, mind you i think Valuev actually beats Joyce behind the Jab, but it would be a close fight. Valuev never beat anyone that impressively.

I'm not arguing that Valuev's opponents were super good. I am saying however that he himself was legit and had some attributes that would make him dangerous in any era.

Not for me he looked unimpressive beating old and small men. He had size and a jab, and was tough. But he was super slow and had very average power. Who would miss him? You couldnt miss him if you tried. This era is full of bigger men who have KO power.
A loss to Chaghaev isnt a big deal, he was a top operator.

Take a look at those highlights I posted. He's actually a lot faster than I remember him.

Ill watch some fights later on in full. Something tells me he isnt as fast over 12rounds then he was in 15seconds of action.

You need to look at who he fought. He was consistent and was well backed, fairplay to him he did with what he had. Its good thing he didnt face either Klitchko.

He might have beat Zhang by the way id go 85/15 for Zhabg, Valuev was big and tough enough to get past the danger rounds, and go back to consistent jabbing, . But i do think if Zhang caught him, a giant like Valuev would not get up. And he would be right there waiting to take full weight left hands.

I rate Valuev, good boxer. Moved very very well for a man his size. Anyone saying he is slow is being harsh, he had fast hands for a 7 footer. He passes the eye test a lot better than other 7 footers, cough Julius Long, cough.

I would say he would be competitive in today's top 10.

I doubt it his best win was probably an old John ruiz.

Haye aside the only other decent fighter he fought was chagaev and lost.

I think this era is a bit underrated it's the strongest it's been since the 90s.

Look at how easy it was to get to Valuev, with a slight shuffle of the feet. He was a statue, and dont just watch highlight videos, the proof will be in full rounds.

If Zhang could be, then Valuev would be for sure.
