Vitali would do very well in the 70's. His awkward style is a nightmare for anyone and his size is unmatched at the time. People think the 70's guys would have a easy time with Corrie Sanders? Let me point out to people that Ali has only fought 1 southpaw in his career...and it was one of the toughest fights of his career. Sanders would be a nightmare for 70's fighters, who lacked experience fighting southpaws.
Yeah, it's nuts.. ****ing Chuvalo would go 50/50 with pretty much the last 10-12 guys Vitali fought.. you want to talk journeymen, talk Chuvalo. Who the **** did Cooney ever beat worth a ****.. a shot Norton? You call the Peter win crap because he was fat.. Cooney doesn't even have a win that equals that... the Norton win holds as much water as say KO'ing Herbie Hide. Lyle? Ha.. I already talked **** about Cooney and he KO'd him. People glamorize that era way way too much. Actually, it's pretty much the fact they were all Americans. People hated Lewis because of where he was from, and still most Americans hate Russian from old Cold War propaganda we grew up hearing.
He'll be the Ali of our generation where we'll remember him more fondly when he retires mislooking the fact that his competition wasn't as stellar.
Cooney had an ATG left hook, you apparently don't know anything about Ken Norton, and Chuvalo had one of the best chins the game has ever seen. Yes, he would beat a lot of the guys that Vitali beat. Nobody doubts the division as a whole is weak, but that doesn't mean Vitali is weak.
A Peak Vitali ('01 Purrity to '04 Williams) in the '70s... Between '70-'74 Vitali might lose to Ali or Foreman. I love Frazier, but he likely loses prime-for-prime to Vitali, almost always. Between '75-'79 Vitali beats everyone.
The '78-'80 Larry Holmes beats current VK four out of five times. The early '80s Holmes beats him more decisively.
he has the chin, the power, the defense and ring smarts to compete with the best of any era not to mention his size and underrated relexes competes with any great hw from any time
Funny tread. I did not know that in seventies all boxers were supermen. Also in seventies people were running faster, swimming faster and had longer dicks. Yes Vitaly lost twice, but did he look bad? Actually he was winning. He would beat most of your HOFs silly. By today standards they should not even be called Heavyweight champions of the World, more like local champions of the USA and Canada.
