Would Vitali Klitschko be competitive in other eras?

His size, skill, awkwardness, chin, power (most notably that it sticks around), and movement would give anyone ever trouble. Vitali isn't the GOAT by any means, but he's always going to hell when you're staring him down across the ring.

 

I think it's a no-brainer. Guy has the size and more importantly the tools to have been competitive in any era.

 

Very awkward style matched with some rather incredible physical traits. Weird but effective style of defence, not a one shot knock out guy as such but if you allow him to hit you too often there is no doubt he will stop you, accurate enough, throws in volume, iron chin.

The only real problem with him is he is more pronouncedly slow than say his brother, who has the style to cover up his own issues with speed. That being said speed is an overrated attribute and a lack of it can be covered over with other things such as timing, ability to control range, punch output etc.

As far as his H2H capability goes, the only fight that gets the lights flashing red is the Byrd fight. He should have punished Byrd but didn't, that being said thats one fight out of so many championship fights so I wouldn't get too hung up on it.

The tools are there for a great fighter in any era, and the resume plus performances are there to back that up.

 

Both brothers would be competitive in any era. Im not saying they beat everyone so relax haters!!!!! but IMO yes, both would be competitive!

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis barely survived the 2nd round and almost got KO'd, he was badly hurt, holding on for dear life, wobbling everywhere and staggering around the ring like a drunk. Lewis was badly hurt several times in the fight and was getting outslugged, outworked, outmuscled, outlanded and outboxed by Vitali.

Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was clearly the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

After the fight, Vitali intimidated the **** out of Lewis and made him look like a *****.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.

Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 40 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

Vitali dominated Lewis, whooped his ass and scared him into retirement.
