He'd defitely be a top contender in the 90s. I think he could trouble Holyfield and Bowe, and would beat other guys like Ruddock, Foreman, Mercer, Moorer, etc. Tyson and Lewis would destroy him.

I agree with you there RUSKULL, power is the last thing to go. I just think all these title holders backing out all the time is really starting to bother most of there fans, I mean what happend to seeing the best fight the best. Guys like Maskaev and Chagaev are creating more problems than anything, now with the stories of Iggy pussing out of the fight with Wlad is really giving this heavyweight era a bad name, dont you think?

Good, even handed post. About how I see it. He would get a belt, lose it, get a belt, lose it.

    I disagree.

Tommy had basic skills & a great left hook and a decent right hand. In fact I think his left hook may be one of the most perfectly thrown left hooks of all time and that's saying a lot.

But he didn't have a great jab or the combos or the ability to switch up his jab & turn it into a hook mid-flight the way Wlad does. Combine that with Wlad's huge size advantage & chances are Tommy's KO'd.

Purrity was not a bum. You would consider yourself lucky to have shared a ring the the same caliber of fighters that Ross did.

He was a gatekeeper which is to say a bit better than a journeyman like Gilberto Martinez. He has good power & a good chin & Wlad didn't take him seriously enough. He got tired and paid the price, his corner threw in the towel.

That was a prime Bowe also BTW. He had just demolished that cuban guy with the mohawk and he was expected to make quick work of Golota. The 2nd fight he couldn't even use the excuse that he didn't train properly or that he was out of shape.............

    Nice try though! :good

Those would be his biggest tests & you can include Tyson for the first few rounds anyway..........................

I agree, Holyfield fought the best of his time and won most of the time. Lewis' fought most of his tough oppenents after there well after there primes, Holyfield in 99 about 6 years past his prime and Tyson 02, about 14 years past prime. Lewis is a great boxer, I just think he definitely had the easier oppenents in his career.
