From 1998 to present. Besides Lennox. Who would have beaten Vitali? And I mean either on Points or by KO (forget the Byrd loss due to injuries).
One name that springs to mind is Ike Ibeabuchi. The way he dismantled Chris Byrd was very impressive. That would be an interesting fight to say the least Ayatollah. This is a very tough question because i can't think of many men who i'd pick over Vitali from this period of time. I suppose that tells you just how good Vitali really is...
I agree that would be a tough fight. However, Vitali is a very smart person. He's intelligence reminds me of Lewis'. I only compared his intelligence OK GUYS!!! I DID NOT COMPARE HIM TO LEWIS. I am a huge Lewis fan. I think He would beat all of them Except a Lewis fight! I say Lewis takes it 2 out of 3 with Vitali, while vitali would win 1 out of 3 vs. Lewis. Yea, Vitali is Bad ass. Only Lewis would beat (and have already done so) Vitali.
I'd pick holyfield, to outpoint him in a gruelling one.I'd also like to see someone like akinwande at his best in with vitali, just to see how he works against someone as tall. I think he'd have problems. Vitali is an excellent fighter, people imo are getting carried away with him though i feel. Holmes wipes the floor with him peak for peak, which is another thread( on points )
If were talking Vitali post-Byrd, nobody. I think that fight changed his mentality in the ring. He has become a hw destroyer of sorts. aside from freak injuries during a fight, I would only pick Lennox to outpoint Vitali. I think Vitali's intangible advantages would best wlad's far superior technical advantages if they were to fight. the only other top fighter in that time was holyfield and he was past his best in 98. Vitali would have wore him down and stopped him late. Even a prime Holyfield would have major issues with post-Byrd Vitali
Well Hollyfield was not that good from 98 to present. 98 to present, Vitali beats Hollyfield. And I WAS NOT and would NOT compare Holmes to Vitali. don't make this assumption please.
No i totally agree Ayatollah, can't argue with that. He's an incredibly smart fighter, he evaluates everything he does, everything his opponent does, or doesn't. I remember his fight with Herbie Hide and i use that term loosely. He's always in complete control, like a machine..
I have never seen the fight nor Do I know much about Mr. Hide. What's special about that fight? care to elaborate and educate me on this fight please? I am gonna try to youtube it later.
At the time Herbie was WBO champ ( as i'm sure you know ) I remember before the fight their was a confrontation of sorts between Hide and Danny Williams. A table was thrown over by Hide and words were exchanged between the two. Hide also tried to intimidate Vitali at a press conference, if i remember correctly. He approached Vitali in an aggresive manner which Vitali replied by telling him not to approach any further or he will react. I remember thinking at the time, who is this guy ? He's huge, a giant heavyweight, he was so much bigger than Hide. I also rememeber the look in Herbie's eyes when he was knocked down for the final time. It's a long time ago now, here's the video Ayatollah :good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq-KZVyGkqU
