    Simple question here.

Rivas seems like a popular guy around here, and it looks like he is #1 contender. The WBC has explained that its rating are a function of who wants to fight for the sorry title. I had question about the fact that he has not fought at the 224 limit since the beginning of his career, but his manager says that he has no problem making that.

I am voting "no" to my own poll, because, even more than the fact that I am not sure that he would make the weight, I don't see how a guy with a thin resume, coming off a loss, makes a great inaugural champ. But again, a lot of people support him for his action style, and because they felt he beat Whyte.

There are basically six fighters that would make this legit to me, and Whyte isn't one of them:

    1. Povetkin- #1 WBC contender, and I think he was about a pound over last time out. He could easily make the limit and finish up his career with a belt. He could let Whyte fight someone else for the #1 heavy spot.

    2. Hunter- Drew with Povetkin, also easily makes the limit, and is having a fine heavyweight career. How about Hunter and Povetkin for the belt?

    3. Gassiev- Many people have said that he has hit them harder than they have ever been hit. He belongs at heavy eventually, but for now he is going to be locked out as the Fury-Joshua-Povetkin-Usyk-Parker-Joyce-Whyte-Wilder drama plays out. At 27, he could pick-up a bridger belt and invade the heavies at 31 as a two-division champ.

    4. Breidis- He talked about moving up, but, like Gassiev and Hunter, he has no chance of getting in on the action at heavy. He really does have as stellar record that includes some bridger types like Charr and Perez. Move up to bridger.

    5. Usyk- But he won't do it due to mandatory status. It is his destiny to fight for the heavyweight belt, but should he change his mind...

    2. Wilder- I hate to admit it, but its not a bad choice. He still thinks his destiny is in the heavies, and professes to want Fury again, but should he change his mind...

Anyway, would you be happy with the new division with Rivas at the helm? Don't forget to vote.
