Would you agree that Douglas-Tyson is the greatest boxing upset of all time?

Sorry Ashley, while those are indeed upsets u listed they dont come close to Douglas-Tyson. The only fight that is close in my mind is Joe Louis vs Max Baer.

You think, somehow, they are greater than this upset?

It looks like that is the case.

Atleast that option is still relevant.

    Bump.....

It looks like Buster Douglas' win over Mike Tyson is not the biggest upset in sports history anymore......

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/31043729/

Now it's just the biggest upset that people actually care about. :D

Yes, I think Tyson/Douglas was the biggest upset in boxing history. I was so sure it would be an early KO for Tyson, I didn't even bother watching it live. My girl was over and didn't like boxing, so we watched a Chuck Norris movie, The Hero and The Terror, instead. I turned back to boxing when the movie ended to see which round Douglas got KO'd in, just in time to catch the post fight pandemonium.

To this day, all it takes is for me to see that The Hero and The Terror is playing on TV to put me in a foul mood.

Yes, eventually. We're not a couple anymore, but I see her from time to time. She's actually gone to a couple of fights with me since then, the last time was Hasim Rahman in upstate New York.

Goodness, I can't believe that Tyson/Douglas fight was 20 years ago.

I had Douglas to win. It wasn't even a hard bet, especially at 42-1. Hell, I'd have bet at 3-1 with no problem.

The Tyson that fought Douglas was not the Tyson of even two years previous. He wasn't washed up, but he wasn't the same.

Douglas is like Corrie Sanders. Both of them could have been all time great boxers, but didn't really take the sport seriously. When they were at the top of their game, they were exceedingly good.

When I found out Douglas' mom died and he dedicated the fight to her, it was the easiest bet I've made.

First off... In Legendary Nights it said that 42-1 underdog was all nothing but a joke. No one would take bets on that fight. that was just a "gag" as Larry Merchant called it.

In reality it was a million to 1 underdog beating Tyson because no one gave Buster a shot.

But this is just most famous because of how popular Tyson was.

80 Hockeys. America beating Soviets who were unbeaten for 20 years is just as bad.

Gardner beating Karelin is prolly just as big of an upset cause Karelin was unbeaten for something like two decades and not just that but no one could score a point against him. It's just it's not as famous as Tyson.

I'm sure no one NO ONE expected Rahman to beat Lewis.

Or John to beat Marquez.. They are just less popular.
