Would you agree that now is the time for one governing body for boxing?

not if the governing organization has no vested interest (financial or otherwise) in rankings, matchups or results
the whole point of making one governing organization would be to eradicate corruption, bias and greed

it's a pipe dream, and would probably take one passionate billionaire to make it happen, but in the meantime it's important to remember that when the judges scorecards stink or some other injustice takes place in the sport, having fragmented federations will always have a hand in it

It's long overdue. Doubt it happens in my lifetime, but you never know.

I think it is more realistic for there to be 1 overseeing org that could force unifications. Let the alphabet orgs keep their feudalistic structure and give us a representative every year or 2 in each division to claim/challenge for the unified titles in each division.

    I'd prefer no governing body.

It's idealistic to have one and say fighters won't get ducked, but that hasn't been the case. Boxing has had two recognized titles since the 1920s (NBA preceded the WBA, NYSAC sort of preceded the WBC), then 3 with the IBF, then 4 with the WBO.

There was always avoiding going on. As much as I hate the alphabet soup, it probably has helped some of the high-risk/low-reward fighters gets fights. Would HBO have put up the money for bouts like Mosley-Forrest and Wright-Mosley if they weren't unification bouts?
