Would you back any ww or lmw to beat SRL twice in a row?

In SRL's career, he could produce a superb performance 1st time out (Benitez), or he could produce an effective performance 2nd time out after losing (Duran II).

Is there any fighter who has ever fought at 147 or 154 that you would back to defeat this very skilled, very versatile fighter twice in a row, much like Vernon Forrest did to Shane Mosley?

You'd have to give SRR a decent chance to beat any other WW twice in a row.

Would be interesting to see how Leonard would try to adapt against Robinson if he lost the first outing.

nothing is impossible, but I don't know about this one. Leonard twice in a row? Wouldn't put any money on it.

Under today's 12 round rules and with competent judges, Ill go ahead and say Thomas Hearns at both weight classes.

no not confident myself , but it is pretty much accepted that robinson's people wanted no part of burley so the guy must of been a bit special

I think you may be right. Over 15 I see Leonard taking it two in a row, though. Those three rounds made all the difference.

Burley was great and your classic high risk/low reward opponent, but he didn't rack up wins that would make me bet on him beating Leonard twice. I think his style would be a bit hard for Leonard to figure out, though. But stylistically he was closer to Benitez than Hearns or Duran I'd say.

i would not argue with that ,the only thing i would add is that a benitez with a better punch would of caused real problems for any fighter

Hm, not many. Ray Leonard was just that good.

The ones I think who would do it:
    - Ray Robinson

The ones who have a good chance to do it (they all win at least one IMO):
    - Henry Armstrong
    - Mickey Walker
    - Emile Griffith
    - Luis Manuel Rodriguez
    - Carmen Basilio
    - Kid Gavilan
    - Barney Ross
    - Charley Burley

There are two fighters I consider a bit of wildcards here, I wonder how Ray would have coped with a dirty fighter like Zivic, when he is allowed to do what he did. And the other one would be Young Corbett III. Can he befuddle Ray enough to win one or even both fights? Or does Ray pull a McLarnin on him (one of the most impressive ww wins IMO)?

    That´s all at welter btw.
