Would you back Nick Diaz to beat Fitch/Koscheck/Shields/Penn/Condit?

So, Sean Sherk is the standard by which wrestling is judged? If so then it's a sad, sad day.

 

No, but he is a strong wrestler that Diaz has faced, and we can use to gauge his skills with.

Also keep in mind that Diaz was only 23 in that fight, whereas Sherk had a significant age/experience advantage.

 

Cyborg is a better striker than both Kos and Fitch.

 

I agree but I believe they are better than Diaz just to strong and fast for him and Diaz isn't technically good enough to get away with bein slow! I am a fan of Diaz just don't think he's as good as the top guys.

 

Yes, but on the scale of wrestling ability relative to the guys listed (apart from Condit)...he's not. He's clearly at the bottom. It tells us relatively little and not nearly as much as you're suggesting.

 

It tells us that he is not near as hopeless as some people try to make him out to be.

He is a Cesar Gracie black belt with a virtually limitless gas tank. Nobody can be lazy at any point when on the ground with him.

 

I was just saying that your analogy was a bit over the top just like the one that the dumb asses use when they say that B.J. has great stand up because he was able to effectively use a jab against a guy who has arms the length of a ruler.

 

Diaz would go the distance with GSP and trouble him more than pretty much any other opponent. I've said this for a while. One of the strongest fighters mentally that I've ever seen, regardless of what you make of him outside the ring. The guy doesn't know what fear is.

 

I have no clue if he beats any of them or all of them...all I know is he's entertaining as hell to watch and you can't rule him out of any fight because of his chin, stamina, and skill. Great fighter.

 

Nick is always a threat from the bottom, but a real threat. The sort who always looks for subs and change position and do damage. That is what I like about the Diazs.

He could stand with Fitch and Kos but they would quickly want to take it to the ground and its 50-50 as to control vs damage/fight finishing attempts.

Shields couldn't stand with him so it would go to the ground, I think Diaz could handle his ground game so it would be interesting as hell.

Penn could also lose, Diaz is awkward on his feet and could handle himself on the ground.

Condit isn't on this level yet but he is getting there. His camp has the ability to turn guys from contenders to champs.

Diaz pro's are his con's too. He has great hands but almost no footwork. He goes in with almost wreckless abandon due to ego. At the same time he doesn't want to pot shot, he wants to fight and like Fedor he will fight wherever the fight goes.

I'm a huge fan of guys who just fight and will keep looking to damage and finish no matter where it goes.

Nate, Nick, Fedor etc are these sort of guys.

I think Nick is becoming smarter, he showed that vs Noons.

 

Just finished watching the fight and really? Really? You can watch that fight and conclude that he would have a (good) change against Fitch/Koscheck/Shields/Penn? Maybe you were high? Drunk? Your vision was blurry, because no way in hell would that display have anything that resembles a good chance against any of the 4 I listed above. That's among the most ridiculous things I've heard this week, and I've been debating religious apologists!

Im not sure Id BACK him but I wouldnt bet against him, he`s a great fighter that would give any one of them a great fight win or lose.

 

id back him against all them guys but never against gsp. i think kos gives him the hardest fight.
