PBF is going to outbox JMM. It's a crying shame when people consider boxing as running. Learn the sport.:-(

    JMM - featherweight (2006) | super featherweight (2008 )
PBF - featherweight (never as pro) | super featherweight (2001)

Sorry it is a valid point.

People call it running because it isn't macho or entertaining for that matter but it also isn't easy (ask Cotto about staying away from Margarito). Lateral movement, ring generalship, cutting off the ring.. all part of the game.

    Not at all.
This isn't concerning Marquez, but if you noticed most swarming/attacking boxers are "small" and most boxer-punchers are tall.

    Joe Frazier
    David Tua
    Mike Tyson
    Jake LaMotta
    Roberto Duran, etc.

    vs.

    Bob Foster
    Thomas Hearns
    Lennox Lewis
    Larry Holmes, etc.

I find nothing unusual in a smaller guy taking it to the bigger guy. It's a very common thing.

I think everyone is going to be surprised to see Floyd standing his ground. He 'runs' from guys naturally a lot bigger than him, but against someone at least 2 weights naturally smaller he will stand his ground and even press the fight.

Floyd is a smart business man. He'll want to make a statement that will generate more interest in the upcoming superfight against Pacman. Winning in an exciting manner will also give him more power at the negotiating table.

marquez is not even a swarmer. also, most of the "small" boxers that you mentioned are only small in height but not in build. for the floyd-jmm fight, marquez is undersized in height and build.

Floyd will likely win this easily if he's anything like he was when he retired. I love Marquez, but the numbers are stacked against him. He's smaller, older and has less reach.

Diaz gave Marquez all he could handle for several rounds, and he's a come forward fighter who presented an easy target for Marquez's counters. Marquez out-toughed and out powered him eventually.

But this fight will look nothing like that. Expect Marquez to try and counter until he realizes it's impossible to do against longer-armed and faster Floyd. In the mid rounds he'll make the decision to bring the fight to Floyd, but Floyd won't let it happen because he's too smart. He'll keep a comfortable distance and pick JMM apart until he's weary, then rush in with occasional flurries to either end the fight for leave with an easy UD.

Again, love Marquez and would like to see him pull if off. But the numbers just don't add up.

Pac/Floyd on the other hand, that's a whole different ball game...

I was only countering the argument that "the bigger guy should take it to the small guy". As practice shows, it's common for smaller guys to take it to the biggers guys, that's all. This is boxing, not a school yard fight.

So if Floyd decides to play counterpuncher against an agressive Marquez - it's totally within his right. As a boxer he is free to choose whatever strategy gets him the win. All accusations on this basis are empty.

that is your opinion and i respect it. as it is, floyd is the much bigger guy that i would be disappointed seeing him playing the waiting game against the smaller man.

I do not care if he pot-shots or run or whatever you call it. I expect no less than a KO from Floyd for picking a smaller fighter. Or at least show me a KD.
