I thought about this after the Manny/Algerie fight. How many guys have been knocked down 6 times and won a fight? Not many at all. There is a 3 kd rule for a round so why not have a limit on kd per fight? I think it makes sense and could save fighters from themselves.
No shouldn't need to be put in place, if you are taking a hiding and in real trouble with no chance of winning the ref or corner should stop it, too many rules make silly things happen. Leave it to the people who are paid to judge the fighters to decide.
Some guys have been knocked down six times and won by knockout. Also, I read about a fight from a couple of decades ago where this happened and the guy won by decision. Either it was because the scoring was different back then or he won every round except for the knockdowns. You have to take into consideration the see saw fights where both opponents get knocked down a couple of times too. Flash knockdowns and slips should also be considered. Not all knockdowns are created equal and some guys just have poor balance.
The 3 knockdown rule isn't an across the board canon. If they're not too damaged, there is always the possibility that they could still win by KO depending on the circumstances of the fight.
