Would you call Tim Witherspoon a big puncher?

Their best punches would bounce off your iron chin that would put Ray Mercer to shame

I'd say so. First to stop Ratliff & Broad, stopped Tillis way faster than Page or Pinky, woke up and destroyed Bruno in the late rounds despite coming in obese, kept Bonecrusher and Page on the backfoot (at least in his victories over them; if maybe not the rematches), and even in his chunky mid-40s twilight knocked out guys like Bostice and Wilson. Well above-average puncher.

If he was still young, fit and focused enough to land that right hand flush on Golota's chin, that fight would've gone differently.

I have him in a similar spot with Bowe, in the sense that both are exactly what comes to my mind when someone says a “hard puncher”

They won’t just render people out cold with one touch like Wilder, but if they land its gonna hurt. A lot.

He had respectable power, but not devastating.

FYI, I'm trying to assess how impressive was the fact that Holmes took so many clean shots from Tim in round 9 and didn't go down.

If he could plant his feet, see his target and unload that overhand right, he was pretty dangerous.

    But I wouldn't call him heavy-handed, necessarily.

Too many guys went the distance with him who probably shouldn't have if he truly was a really big puncher.

Like Tony Willis, James Pritchard, Mike Williams, Carl Williams, Larry Alexander ... and quite a few others.

But, at times, he was very dangerous. He was just inconsistent.
