Would you consider Deontay Wilder a modern day Michael Grant?

McCline hit him so hard that he broke his ancle. That's what Tex Cobb said about Shavers once, but Jameel did it for real (as did Valuev once) :ggg

    As ever with these questions

We will know IF Deontay EVER steps up

Until then Deontay should be rated just above the level of his opposition, which is way below even the top 5 of the current HW division.

Also, Deontay looks terrible. He doesn’t look the part even when winning.

McCline was a better fighter in his prime than Wilder though, also had a better resume/run.

Wilder is Michael Grant/Derrick Jefferson... Those guys with Wilders backing - coddled build up, shot at the weakest belt holder and weak defenses could easily mirror his run today. Grant actually had some decent wins going into the Lewis fight - showed some heart against a still solid Golota... After Lewis he wasn't the same. Lewis would destroy Wilder as well, maybe even sooner than Grant.

Neither can Wilder, in fact Wilder's chin maybe FAR worse.

I think Lewis would KO Wilder in the first round. Just completely different levels.

Grant had better technique, Wilder better power. Both are chinny and at elite level I suspect pretty useless. I say suspect because Wilder has never fought at elite level and doesn't seem to want to. Grant was destroyed when he stepped as is likely with Wilder if he ever steps up.

hard to say. he does not have a Lennox to test him. But I think he is better than Grant.. but it is hard to say.
