After he hired Memo Heredia to train down in Mexico, suddenly he had devastating punching power. Coincidence? :think
Well Pac was widely considered a power puncher and Marquez has a higher KO rate. I consider him a heavy puncher but not on the level of other power punchers.
Packs a decent punch, has good skills and watches for opponent's mistakes... His high KO% comes from catching guys clean IMO. Which is definitely more important than pure power.
I would consider him a counter puncher with decent power. A good counter puncher can have a good ko percentage depending on if they fight in the pocket or not.
At lightweight, which is about where him and Pacquiao would naturally be fighting, if there weren't so much money at welterweight right now. He's got a lot of knockouts in the lower weights. But really, he's a supreme technician who's technical skills far outstrip any physical abilities he may have. Of course, he's been roiding lately so that might account for a little extra power.
I would say he is a power puncher with skills. But I have to say, he has gotten bigger, faster, and stronger as he's moved up in weight and getting older...:huh
no. accumulation puncher, great finisher and the best combination puncher in the game (shout out to inoue and occasionally loma who will take the throne when he is gone).
