He had fought and defeated Eubank or Benn (just one of them) at 168.

    Never lost to Montell Griffin.

After beating Ruiz, fighting and being defeated by Lennox Lewis, then going down to 175 again and defeated Tarver. Then retiring without the loses to Tarver and Johnson.

Poeple would complain that Eubank and Benn were Euro bums, Montel was never anything special, Ruiz the weakest champ, Lennox past it and a glass jaw and Tarver a milkdud.

Yes. He would be the GOAT if he had beaten Lewis. He would not have had to do anything else.

He's considered the GOAT H2H at 168 but not on accomplishments.

I wish he would of retired after the first Tarver fight. He didn't look the same, that cutting weight really hurt him as a fighter. But by todays standards, NO ONE will ever get the nod to be the GOAT P4P wise. The old fighters are so high on a pedistool that it's unreachable.

He shouldve not went down to LHW again and loss those 20lbs of muscle. What he should've did was "GO FOR BROKE" AND STEPPED UP and fought Lewis. With his skills he actually had a shot at it and while not in his prime, niether was Lewis and at that point he didn't do the stupid muscle loss thing within a manner of a few months at age 34-35.

If he had went for broke and fought Lewis, even if he would've been KO'd he would've got way more credit for actually stepping in the ring to fight him and if he somehow managed to "win" by decision, well he would've really went down in history. It would've counted so much more for him if he had fought lewis, considering that Lewis wasn't at his best by any means at that point, plus he would've made so much money off that fight, it would've been HUGE. Roy let Tarver get into his head, a fading Lewis was better than Tarver had ever been and Roy was strong, and tat fight he would've been up for. Win or lose the actual fight, he would've won in the long run. A Loss to Lewis would've meant more than a victory over milk dud, as people here like to call him.

If he had of fought lewis, he wold of lost by way of decapitation

He was right not to face lewis, as he had little to no chance and he knew that. Fighting lewis would of been one of the biggest matches and probably biggest grossing match of this centuary. So if he thought he had any chance of course he would of fought him, the money would of been astronomical :good

Roy could not have been expected to fight Lewis, but because he didnt we all must realise his World heavyweight title isnt worth the plastic its written on. he beat a top 10 heavyweight contender, not the Heavyweight champion of the World.

Jones wanted that. If Jones would of done that, that would of done so much for him even in defeat. It was Lennox who turned down the fight, but he knew he would gain nothing from beating Jones. Possibly even knowing he couldn't get himself in shape to train for a much smaller Jones and that would risk him looking foolish for a few rounds.

I probably would have considered him the best if he did that - it would easily warrant a top 3 ranking all time.

Archie Moore, chewed rare steak and spat it out, and got down from his Heavyweight fighting weight of 195 pounds, to 175 pounds at 12 mid day the day of the fight. 8-9 hours before the fight...He re-hydrated with water.
Jones had all this modern miracle rehydration crap, and weighed in 36 hours before the fight and was some how weight drained.....what for crap.
And you buy it. He was so dehydrated....BS total.

Archie Moore had trained his body to do that over the years if I'm not mistaken. And Jones is not the first fighter to have had that problem.

Funny, when people say Toney was weight drained for Jones, they never mention how it's crap because Archie Moore did this or that. Seems to be reseerved only for Jones. And quoting an exception to a rule is not exactly proof that Jones is lying.

As for stepping up to fight Lewis, Lewis said live on HBO before a fight that he had turned Jones down because he didn't know his future plans.
