Would you define Sugar Ray Robinson as at 'technician'?

    I'd call Duran a fast-twitch ax-wielding psychopath, b

You got a great way with words, JG.

Wasn't it Joe Frazier who said Duran had eyes like Manson.

    If he didn't, I would, b.

First time I saw him at the new MSG mixing with fans after decimating a pretty good local club fighter within seconds of the opening bell, he stood near me for a moment, accepting congratulations.

Looked in his black black eyes and saw the fires of hell.

    :scaredas:

I believe it was this fight you saw him at, JG?

Jerry Quarry said he'd be scared to fight Duran (when he was commentating on one of his fights ringside) because of those eyes. The other guy, can't remember who chuckled and one time during the bout Duran looked at him from the ring he said: "Duran just gave me a look and by heart stopped for a minute..."

One of the scariest fighters ever. I read once that Leonard's wife fainted when she saw the killer instinct Duran showed when he rushed Ray in the first couple rounds at Montreal. Hyperbole? maybe. But wouldn't be surprised if true.

haha, You're right. Would hardly call him a technician at that stage. More like a savage, great KO though.

Yeah, can't complain too much. He's been preserved for good.

He fought and challenged for the Middleweight title just in time to get a hefty portion of his important fights on film without the abrupt choppiness and missing frames that plague a lot of pre-50/60s material. I find those particularly difficult to watch.

I agree. Would rather watch the MW Robinson too. No skipping for the most part and in better quality in general.
