I actually wouldn't have. I viewed the Khan fight as 50/50. Obviously he didn't have as much confidence in his ability as me
people need to understand the Khan offer for 1.2 million was a rip-off. Bradley He signed a deal with HBO when he fought Devon that his next fight would be for over a million no matter who it is. So he could have fought anyone and HBO would have to give him that payday but they tried to force him to fight Khan the HBO darling. And you know Bradley would be going in there with the judges and ref against him cause Khan is the new HBO and Golden Boy darling with huge promotional backing while all Bradley had at the time was Shaw. Mind you this is after Maidana was arguably robbed against Khan. Definitely Cortez helped Khan in that fight. So why would Bradley want to go against Khan for a payday that HBO promised him he would get anyways with or without Khan and have to beat not only Khan but the whole promotional hype behind him. Devon LOST to Bradley and got his 1million+ payday against Mathysse a tough guy but a guy who was brought in to lose and it was Devon who got the gift. Bradley WON the fight and he's supposed to face a guy that HBO is pulling for? ha!
His ultimate aim was to fight one of the two cash-cows in boxing. And to do that, he had to embark on one of the following: The hard route Fight Khan like he promised and determine once and for all who the number one guy at 140 was. The easy route Bypass Khan, remain inactive for almost a whole year, and feast on an easy opponent to remain undefeated. He chose the latter, and yes, hes now on his way to securing that megafight with Pacquiao. But, at what cost has he done this? Because lets be real, no matter which route his chose, the end result would be the same - suffering a one-sided defeat at the hands of Pacquiao. If he chose the harder route, he at least would have had something to fall back on. People would still remember him as the once legitimate king of a talented 140 division who earned his right to fight Pacquiao, but came up short. But by taking the easy route, hell now be remembered as the guy who ducked Khan and got his ass whooped in the end. So would I do what Timothy Bradley is currently doing? Hell nah! Id rather secure the next best thing being the 140 king and then get the life beat out of me by Pacquiao.
Wins that are now tainted by his refusal to take part in the unofficial 140 tournament final against an opponent who has now fast caught up with his resume in the division.
This was one of those 20/20 hindsight things. If he had fought Khan and won, and gotten a big money fight with Pacquiao, people would say "what a great decision, he made himself more marketable and credible by becoming the king of 140 and now is getting a huge fight". If he'd lost, people would say "what a bad business decision, he showed balls, but not business smarts to risk the big fight with Pacquiao by facing Khan for less"
JMM is doing the same thing right now. Berto tried to do the same but he got jacked. Tim is just doing what others have done and what's good for himself. ...with no apologies, I would do the same damn thing.
Very true. He would've guranteed his shot a Pacquiao by beating Khan, a Roach fighter. I like Bradley but he really doesn't believe he can beat Khan.
Bradley is a nobody . This guy don't deserve a payday against Roideao. Arum is the greatest scum of the scum if he lets this happen!! I mean, Bradley, really?? Oh, I forgot he beat Alexander, what a fu***ng joke!!!
