If he fights and loses to DLH? Had a conversation with my dad today about this. I am a huge Pac fan, and my dad is an even bigger fan, definitely one the biggest Pac fans you'll ever see. But both of us expect Pac to lose this fight.

And I asked my dad if this fight would affect Pac's ranking at all. He answered with a resounding YES!. He said that if Pac loses to DLH, he should be dropped from the no. 1 p4p spot. Initially, I was of the same opinion. But after thinking about it, I'm not so sure. I mean we fully expect Pac to lose to a much bigger fighter(and I think most here feel the same way). And for me, I would only drop a boxer from a certain p4p spot if that boxer lost in a legitimate fight due to the opponent being better. But in the DLH-Pac case, if Pac loses I don't think its because DLH is necassarily a better fighter than Pac, but only because he's bigger. WAY Bigger. Meaning even if Pac loses, it doesn't mean that his ability has diminished, it just means that he's lost to a much bigger fighter and that all the ability in world wouldnt enable him to do anything due to the HUGE size disadvantage.

I said this to my dad, and my dad said while that might be true, we also have to consider the mentality of the fighters in question. He feels that my reason would only apply to fighters who fights much bigger fighters only for the money, not for legacy or who's the better fighter. But in the case of Pac, my dad feels that Pac is not doing it just for the money but is also confident that he can beat DLH and prove that he is truly the better fighter. So in a way, we can say that this is a legitimate fight solely due to the mentality of both fighters that they are confident they can beat each other. So in the end, the p4p rankings should be affected because of that.

I thought he made a good point, but at the same I thought I also had a point as well. So wanted to ask you guys here in ESB for you opinion about this subject. Do you agree with me or with my old man?

    NO.
    This fight is a sideshow.
if anything it should incress Pac's standing
because of the size of his sack taking on a 154lbs'er

    :thumbsup

More than likely Pac would be dropped, but if he did, it shouldnt be far considering that he'd be jumping up 2 divisions to fight a jr. middleweight.. It definitely wouldn't hurt Pac's legacy.. If Pac dropped back down and defeated Hatton as well as unify 135, he could easily reclaim the #1 spot..

He is not even the undinsputed no1 just now(with pbf retireing i think he is)he is a diputeable no1 if he even fought Valuev and got stood on after 45 seconds it would still affect his p4p status, afterall isnt the reason we talk and debate about the p4p rankings every other week about a pugilists latest performance elevating or lowering their p4p position.A boxers position in this mythical ranking should reflect the performance

If the fight happens, it'll be pathetic and DLH should become hated by everybody. It will have no impact on Pac's legacy, therefore it shouldn't really make any impact on Pac's P4P rating IMO.

It's like if Cotto beat DLH/Mayweather/Williams to become P4P #1, then moved up to 160 to fight Pavlik and lost by early KO. His P4P ranking shouldn't change.

I really doubt the Pac-DLH fight will happen though. ****.. I can imagine it now. Pac gets knocked out by DLH, then moves back to 135 and gets dominated by Diaz/Guzman to finish his career. His fans and "boxing experts" will think Pac was shot after the DLH fight and won't give the 135 pounders who beat him credit.

I guess it would depend. If he put up a halfway decent performance before getting KOed then maybe not... now if he were to get completely embarrassed and thoroughly trashed then you prety much have to drop him off the #1 spot. You just can't have a #1 p4per at the top who's been beaten to a pulp like that. The perception people have of him now would be severely downgraded after a thrashing of that level.

Too early to make judgement and opinion.

If he fights DLH . . . WIN OR LOSE . . . it doesn't affect his p4p standing. That just a bull**** money fight.

. . . . but if he retires after that . . . YES! Pac would look NO BETTER than Mayweather.

. . . . if he goes back fighting to prove himself by unifying at 135 . . . then . . . it depends on whether he'll win or lose.

Again? Pac nuthuggers already got owned again after Pac needed a gift decision to beat a past-prime Marquez. I mentioned fighters like Guzman and Diaz because they are huge legacy enhancing opponents that are at Pac's weight right now, not freak show fights against big money fighters way too big for Pac.

Anyways, you're just a troll who probably came from the Pacland forums. No point of arguing..

well if pac gets dominated by guzman after he lose to DLH, there's no other better explanation than pac being shot due to DLH. because aside form being shot, there is no way guzman beats and dominates pac.
