Would Fedor's stock go down if he lost to Sylvia? Yes of course.

in my humble opinion, it should depend on pac's performance. we all know that pac is suppose to lose against the much bigger de la hoya. if pac loses a competetive decision, pac should still cling on the p4p#1. if pac was ko'ed in the mid to later rounds but before that is doing great work on oscar, he still could hold on to it. but if he lose the fight in an early murderous fashion like duran in his fight with hearns, then there is not a strong case for pac to hold on #1 even if hoya was way bigger.

why are we talking about such a fight? since when did fans care about money that they won't get or have a share with anyway?

pac should take on dlh because of the big risk and big money...? a lot of people here view this fight as a circus side act for the sole purpose of making big money fights. Fights that the people pay for(us) and we make DLH's wallet fatter and fatter every time we buy his ****:yep

pac should fight campbell guzman winner, then take on hatton at 140 for the throne at 140:happy

    be realistic...

I'd drop him, but only to #2, behind Calzaghe.

i don't know either cj. maybe because of lack of good opponent for pac late this year. soto is a good fighter. but people would just say that pac had beaten (if he beats soto) a guzman leftover. valero is an intriguing matchup but valero couldn't get a clearance. would it be better if pac doesn't fight again this year and wait for campbell-guzman winner or casa-marquez winner next year?

No not often. Not really. You don't often get a fight where one fighter has a 14-15 pounds difference to his opponent who is on a different and much smaller weight division and is coming up to fight you.

That Tyson example is not a good example. The fact of the matter is Tyson WAS a Heavyweight. It doesn't matter how small he was, the fact is his body was built to be a heavyweight and he had Heavyweight level power, just like his big opponent. Can you say the same to Pac?

well valero is good and quite an intriguing matchup, i believe if pac moves up as far as 154 it wouldn't be the same after that..thats like what jones did when he move up to face ruiz and wasn't the same afterwards. A fight with dlh would just hurt pac's career imo.. and yup puga i think it will be better if pac wait for next year, or if he really wants to fight then have his title defended instead, think of it just like a tune up before his next biggest fight

nah... pac is soooo much smaller than oscar..

that him losing would just say hes reached his weight limit...

it would be like floyd getting ko'd by a heavyweigth

A resounding NO. He should only lose the #1 spot if Marquez beats him, or someone becomes clearly better than Pacquiao- and no-one is just now. His P4P ranking obviously should not be affected if he loses to a far far naturally bigger and stronger man. Don't forget that we are talking about a guy who won a world title at middleweight (160lbs) v a guy who won a world title at flyweight (112lbs) here. If Ruiz had beaten RJJ would that have affected how good we thought RJJ had been at his own weight? No. De La Hoya's defeat by Hopkins does not affect how good he was at his own prime weight (135-147 IMO).
We shouldn't punish guys for taking on huge challenges.

if he loses in a pound for pound fight, he should lose this fight. Isn't that what these 'pound for pound' ranking is for?
