If I could pick two fighters to fight against SRR based on styles he'd have to deal with, it would be Duran and Hearns, but I agree that SRR would likely over come them both.
Duran and Hearns give him hell. Man, I've been watching a lot of SRR and Duran on youtube these days. That match up at 147 would be a beauty.
There are a couple of guys who would be competitive no doubt. But outright favour someone over him at 147? Nah...
There's an awesome video on Youtube called the scientific street fighter and it breaks down Duran's infighting skills against Palomino. I don't know how anyone can watch this and not marvel at the technical skills he had.
Well l certainly never said l would either. I merely posted some stylistic challenges l would enjoy watching SRR overcome.
Oh yes, that vid is pretty sweet. Check out "The Tao of Roberto Duran". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_bJVON3qMU
L, if I am an "oldtimer",why not ban me from this forum ? Or sue me for that matter.? Have you seen Ray Robinson at ringside as a welterweight in his prime ?. Or his contemporaries fight in an era when there were at least 5 times the amount of pro fighters fighting at least monthly against real "pros" in a rich pool of contenders ?. I think not !. Tell me sir what welterweight would you in your towering knowledge of boxing history from the last THIRTY FIVE years throw in the ring to beat the likes of Ray Robinson, Kid Gavilan, Carmine Basillio, Emile Griffith , Henry Armstrong etc, ?. Well L, I;m waiting ?
So SRR fought in an era, when there were "at least" 5 times as many pro boxers as there are today? Also, from the last 35 years, I'd certainly give both Leonard and Hearns a good chance of beating all those you mention (with the exception of Robinson, of course!)
