I would have to say that as long as Tyson is physically and mentally prepared he beats Joshua easily all the way until the face tattoo days.

Joshua is so big and stiff, his chin poor and stamina so bad that it doesn't matter that Tyson's skills, fighting heart where eroded after jail, he would just have to unload on the big Brit.
Any version of Tyson up until Lewis takes him 100%

Even the face tattoo version could still take him out because Joshua himself would gas out just as bad if not worse

One of the worst style matchups ever between historically significant HWs

I'd have to say the post bite Tyson MAY struggle and not get the job done . It's hard to say with Tyson once he'd lost it against Holy he became unpredictable , maybe he'd come in sloppy against AJ and find himself battered . But saying that , seeing how he fared against Ruiz .. well one thing Tyson could always do ,is punch hard ,so there's always that chance .

    Yes.

Some of the last incarnations of Tyson would have lost to almost any world class opponent.

Joshua weakness becomes overrated here. He's still very good fighter who beat a lot of good guys.

Current Tyson beats AJ, he punches hard enough even as an old man he'd only need one sucker punch in the press conference in one of his famous brawls to send AJ crying to Eddie.
    Or
    AJ via courtroom victory.

yeah I think so also. He had a suspect chin, but most guys hit clean on the chin are suspect. The fact is Eddie Hearn was right Joshua lacked experience. Not world class since he fought good fighters, but all around experience like Vlad had or Holyfield. A guy gets close and starts to land you hold onto him, or you counter to the body as he comes in and then holds.

I'm talking styles here. Ruiz fought very much like a fat, slower footed Tyson.

The punch selection and use of the jab especially reminded me of early tyson

So I don't see why even an old Tyson wouldn't have a chance

I'd favour him over the worst versions of Tyson. He'd probably have a reasonable chance against post prison Tyson. I mean, Frans Botha was beating that version of Tyson. We'll see in the rematch if there's any validity to the claims something was off with him. And for the love of god please let's not all swing back to "OMFG AJ is a Top 3 HW ever" view if he happens to blow out Ruiz.

He's a good fighter with massive physicality, and all the advantages that entails ... not a bum and not the conqueror of all the ATG's. Let's be realistic.

Now, please, let's lay off the Ruiz threads for a while.

I realize that the Ruiz threads have been done to death, but the Ring Magazine rankings are out, so we can now asses the political implications!

    https://www.ringtv.com/ratings/?weightclass=272

The decided against making Ruiz #1, and instead put him at #3.

This means that when Tyson Fury rematches Ruiz, it will be for the Ring Title, and I think that most will recognize the winner as the Lineal Champion!

I'd even favour the 1996 version of Tyson that beat Bruno. He was still quick enough to get inside and land a devastating punch then he would be all over AJ, with the "Henry Armstrong" approach as Tyson himself put it. Tyson would obviously tire but I don't know who's stamina would be worse...

Any previous version of Tyson as well obviously, AJ was made to order, Tyson liked big, slower targets, slow in comparison to his own speed anyway. I still rate AJ as a decent champ but that style clearly would cause an issue, and a guy with a chin to survive AJ's power.

All the talk before this fight was that Tyson wouldn't stand a chance against the sheer size and power of AJ, nice to see a bit of reality and the fact the past generations of champs would indeed stand a chance these days. sure AJ probably wasn't at his total best but his known vulnerabilities were exposes tenfold.
