You make it out to be a simple yes/no question, just like many do vs ODLH.

If Clottey had fought back, and if ODLH wasn't weight drained to ****, he would of got credit for the wins.

Yeah.... so then if Mosley would have looked energetic for a full 12 rounds, maybe people wouldn't say that Mayweather just fought an old man.... or maybe if Floyd actually made the initially agreed weight to fight Marquez, maybe he'd get more credit...and maybe if he would have fought Ricky Hatton at his best weight of 140lbs, he'd get more credit for that win...and maybe....... yawn.....

Mayweather deserves credit but so does Pacman. Pacquiao beat most of the top welterweights available, back to back. It don't matter how it went down, he did it and deserves praise for it. End of story !

I agree. Both fighters have very significant wins, but I can't put them on the level of leonard or duran. Srl and hands of stone would make clottey into instant ***** no joke. Pacman and floyd need to fight each other or martinez to be the real deal. I give credit to pacman for beating clottey but he is not a great ww yet and neither is floyd.

You're assuming that anybody who denies Pacquiao full credit for his wins gives Mayweather full credit for his. Not so.

There is another alternative to giving them both full credit for their wins given the various circumstances surrounding them.

The alternative is that neither deserves full credit for any of their recent fights given those various circumstances. :deal

The world isn't all just Pacquiao fanatics and Mayweather fanatics, you know.

I was highly critical of and angry toward Mayweather for picking on Marquez. That was a total mismatch and I gave him no credit for it.

The fact is that Clottey barely fought back, and given his proven chin it's highly unlikely that he was scared of taking a single flush shot from a much smaller man.

A win that Pacquiao fans can't tout enough (and for some reason they just don't, as much as some of the others like Clottey and DLH) is the Cotto win. Yes, there were some nitpick-able circumstances there (Cotto being "mentally damaged" from the loss to Margarito) but honestly it was a fantastic win over an elite fighter with no substantial excuses available, and Pacquiao's best win since moving up.

Its not Pacroid's fault, but Clottey did allude to the fact that he would not let Pacquiao knock him out.......so when he fought in a turtle shell and never opened up, rightfully he was criticized by people even in his own country of Ghana who were very dissapointed and would have preffered that Clottey go out on his shield.

let's not forget clottey didn't have his trainer, and didn't have a trainer at all for a few weeks of camp, and pac hired HIS sparring partner....geez

(not that it would have actually mattered)

I'm assuming that the guy to whom I wrote back to, does practically always give credit to Mayweather and by his writing history, has no real intentions to do so in regards to Pacquiao. You assumed I meant everyone...:deal

I didn't say they deserve the utmost credit or full credit but they still deserve some.

Obviously the world isn't just about Pacquiao & Mayweather fanatics, again you are the one assuming as to what I was answering to...

The craziest thing that sports fans do is diminish or enhance performances and rankings instantly. Most fail to constantly see the big picture. Maybe you were very disappointed by seeing Clottey's performance like me, but you weren't the guy in the ring with Pacquiao and you weren't the one trying to figure out how to get to him without sustaining shots coming in from every possible angle.

It's all subjective, but I think Pacquiao made Clottey fight more in a shell than he's used to. Clottey was a decently talented top 5 welterweight, and so for me, Pacquiao deserves credit for beating such a guy that again outweighed him considerably in boxing terms, no matter how the fight went down.

You'll always be able to find excuses if that's what you're looking for but when you look at the big picture, you start appreciating more what's been done.

Did Evander Holyfield have a great performance against Mike Tyson or is it just Tyson not training again like he should and coming in there with no game plan that was his downfall ? It's almost unanimous from people that Evander delievered an awesome performance but that comes from the fact that he was a heavy underdog. If you would choose to see the other side of the coin, you could easily say that after 2-3 rounds, Holyfield was fighting a mentally beat, past it fighter with not much stamina in the tank on that night. That would make the "W" less worthy... Mayweather-Mosley anyone ?

It's all subjective all the time.
