instead of a derrick harmon, richard frazier, richard hall or dave telesco fight? but i don't know when that would've happened since griffin got ko'ed by michalczewski in '99, where i thought griffin was gonna win when he was beating michalczewski up and hurt him in the 2nd but ah well

i loved griffins style. not flashy but just solid boxing knowledge added with some out of textbook boxing.

i would of thought it would of sold well. the 2nd match just seemed to overshadow anything to do with the first fight. a 3rd match i think would of been a good match. montell should of got back with futch and got the 3rd match in 2000. possibly eddies last fighter by then. yeah i would put a bit of money on griffin aswell.

roy i dont think wanted it. after hill and griffin he was pretty content to defend alot against subpar competition. i think he felt that he had prooved himself and would just keep the motor running for more flashy competition.

i like griffin a lot as well. i was just watching the tarver fight and i like his use of the cross arm archie moore style and that perfectly timed left hook he hit tarver with whenever he threw it.

Roy showed in both fights he could find the necessary punches to dispatch of Griffin, and by the third meeting I doubt Montell is causing Roy the hassle he did first time around.

The second fight was a definitive statement. No need for another IMO.

a third fight would have been usless. he really lost the first fight, though he did ok had the late punch not happened he would have lost anyway. in the 2nd fight he was anihilated. third foght would have ended in ko too.

but that was a quick stoppage with dm.

it's all been said: the 2nd fight was so conclusive, a third would be a tough sell

Why not. It would be a good pay check for both. If Holyfiled Ruiz can fight 4 times, I dont see why a 3rd fight with Griffin would not sale.

Everything between them was pretty much settled in that second fight..I don't think a rubber match would have held much water.
