I'd like to see EIGHT round fights. We'd see more action. Plus, you know, I've got a lot of stuff to do ......
Ha! :good I agree that a fit guy who's conditioned for 12, would be able to go 15 if necessary. But the point people are making here, is that some of today's guys aren't even conditioned to go hard for 12 rounds. Fighters from the past were definitely more conditioned as a whole. A lot of guys today only fight 2 to 3 times per year. A return of 15 rounds would surely shake up the sport. HW's especially would have to get into better shape. I'd love the return of 15 rounds, less divisions and less belts. It would be great!
Certain fights I would have liked to see 15 rounds, certain ones I am glad only went 12, like Tarver-Jones for instance.. I would have liked to see Mosley-Cotto go 15.. Or Mosley-DLH
I voted yes,but with an *. I think if a championship fight is a draw after 12 rounds there should be 3 extra overtime rounds. If the fight is still a draw after 15. The draw would stand.
Yes. Even though there wasn't much evidence to support that the change from 15 to 12 would help, it began to happen in the mid 80s. The Mancini- Duk Koo Kim fight comes to mind as one of the fights that were used to justify the move.
Do you believe that the heavyweight championship fights are better now with the massive (but less conditioned) superheavies than they were in the 70s when they were obviously fitter and had higher workrates?
Do you feel that the lowering of the rounds has been effective in protecting the fighters from extreme punishment/injury/ brain damage?
Don't forget Zab and Danny. That would have been real interesting over 15 Rounds. Same for Clottey-Cotto. That would have definitely been interesting to see that over 15 Rounds.
