correct me if im wrong but i think american ppv shows cost around 50 pound per show & aint it every few weeks they pay this? we over here are lucky i think, if we payed 10 pound to box nation we can watch the donaire, alvarez, garcia & mayweather fights all for our tenner :happy. i dont mind at all paying a 15 pound one off ppv fee to sky for the froch vs kessler fight because its going to be a great cant miss fight. but would you pay american prices every few weeks?
No it's a different culture over there; we prefer a subscritpion over here. Still, even though it's massively more vast country it still staggers me the number of people who pay those prices.
I'm American and I basically only, but hardly always, pay for those rare fights that have great mains and very good undercards, and consider (tho usually decide against) ones that have very good mains with likewise undercards. Otherwise I watch on the high seas or just torrent it the next day, either of which I do for the vast majority of PPVs. So, indeed, prices are way too high, yet I rarely do pay out once or maaaybe twice in a year. Not paid any so far this year and there are none on the horizon that I will even consider... :tired For example, it would take a ridiculously unrealistic great undercard for me to even consider Mayweather's, but if Canelo/Trout were the co-main as once intended and the undercard were at least pretty good, then I'd likely pay for that..
I might be the only person on here that would pay these prices here is the reasons why I would: 1. Boxing is the only sport I really follow so I don't spend money going to football matches or the like, I know some of my friends will be paying £60-£80 a week go watch a football game that they get with their Sky subscriptions. 2. Most of the bouts on PPV are bouts that I would love to attend and watch live but the cost to go watch these bouts would be far more than I could afford even if I stayed in the U.S. So if I had to pay £45 to watch Mayweather then for me I would buy it. 3. I enjoy watching boxing in the best possible picture, I have tried watching boxing through by streaming it and I hate it!! It keeps stopping and having to buffer the picture is never that great and even when hooked up to the TV. Being able to watch the bouts in good quality is worth it imo. 4. It will never cost you that money if you have friends that are interested in boxing too, anytime there is a PPV in the UK a few of my friends either come round to mine or I go over to one of theirs to watch the boxing, if one pays for the boxing the others will buy the beer or food etc. If it was the price of a PPV in the U.S then you could even just all chip in, 5 people = £9 each. Not bad for an evenings entertainment if you enjoy boxing, it cost me £12 to go to the cinema a couple of weeks ago! At the end of the day people will always buy PPV because of 1 or all of the reasons I have gave and I'm sure people will give other reasons why they would pay it. I don't agree with the prices but I'm not going to lie and pretend that I wouldn't pay the prices because I would. The thing is with PPV that if you don't want to pay the price you don't have too, you can sit at your computer and watch a stream or you can wait till the re-runs are shown a week or so after but the choice is all yours. My choice would always be to watch it live and in good quality.
Not a ****ing chance would I spend £45 on PPV. It would have to be a REALLY special fight, or a great fight with a great undercard too.
An American friend told me that they were charging 70 bucks for Wrestlemania. Convert that into £ in google. Outrageous. I'm guessing HBO PPV is virtually the same? All box office over here is. Mind you, thats just gone up ain't it? £17.95 or something?
No chance but i might if the fight was on at 10pm UK time then get a few lads round and all chip in. Waiting until 4 in the morning to watch a fight im like the walking dead, either nackered or bladdered. Plus my missus would never authorize the transaction!!
I doubt I would have even paid that for the Frazier Ali trilogy so these current crop of insignificant America bums have no chance.
Moanbags on here moan bout payin 10er a month for boxnation... and ur wonderin if they'd pay american prices hahaha
