Last time I was involved in paying for a PPV was when my mate bought Hatton Vs Pacquiao, cost like 20 euro and we all threw in like 2 euro each (there was a group of us)...

Yeah, 315+ mil and some on welfare in Alabama with TV subscriptions. No doubt the American peglegs dwarf the paying landlubbers, myself simply shouldering a parrot and/or boarding a torrentship the vast majority of the time.

 

Yep thats still a very decent figure given the different competing forces over there, the price of the ppvs and the fact that Showtime and HBO are pay platforms themselves before the added singular extra ppv cost. I think Mayweather-Cotto was 1.5 million if I remember rightly, and that wasn't a exactly a fight boxing fans were calling out for.

 

There are only 3-4 PPV's a year here in the US.All,I may remind you are in PRIME TIME,meaning a reasonable 9pm(et) time start-not 3 or 4 in the morning like in the UK.The Mayweather event is the first one this year.Incidentally,is the Froch-Kessler fight not a PPV event in the UK?We get that fight free and live in the US,so things have a way of evening themselves up.

doubt i would pay those prices, but it may even itself out if sports tv prices were lower over a year,unsure what they are in states, but even for floyd manny i would not pay £45

Exactly that's why I was saying 1.5 million buys is pretty good even though the population is so vast. The price of the boxing ppvs over there is ridiculous in the context of what we pay over here but they manage to squeeze enough buys out of that huge potential viewing audience. In percentage population terms it's crap but when its $50 - $60 a pop then Floyd is happy. PPV is not something I like here or over there.

 

I don't even pay British PPV prices. The only way i would consider it would be if it was a massive fight with an amazing undercard, shown at a decent time of night and mate's were willing to chip in.
