Would you pay for a Golota/Lewis II PPV?

That's the thing. You never know what you're going to get with Golota. He panicked before the Lewis fight, was having panic attacks before the fight even started.... If he could somehow kept it together he could have given Lennox a decent fight.

Yeah I know he's streaky but he came off 2 dq losses against Bowe before that fight, so I would be very hesitant to buy any PPV's involving him, and I'm sure many were as well. The fight did around 300k was it?

Him coming off 2 dq losses + a KO1 loss to Lewis...

    Yeah probably not....:yep

The thing is, he rarely did keep it together.

The question pertained to the period immediately following Golota-Grant had Golota hung on to win. I wasn't talking an immediate rematch.

Well as a huge Lewis fan, yeah I probably would.
Golota usually put on a decent showing before imploding. Lewis and Tyson were the only times he was completely overwhelmed.

I disagree on that. Lewis and Brewster were the times he was completely overwhelmed (I'm discarding anything after the Mollo fight and pretending it never happened). :D

Golota actually had a decent first round against Tyson before being dropped, and then he managed to survive the second round. That was the most disappointing aspect of that fight, from a Golota fan's perspective - he had weathered the storm.

Tyson almost always slowed down after 2 rounds at that time in his career, and Golota probably would have started having better success had he the mental strength to just hang in there.

I would have to say that, yes. Golota was the one fighter, where I went from being a long time casual fan who almost exclusively followed heavyweights, to becoming more of a die hard fan. I caught the very tail end of Hagler's career (first fight I saw was Hagler-Hearns), and then that transitioned into the Tyson era, where from that point forward, I only watched televised heavyweight fights.

After Golota entered the scene, I started expanding my horizons as I became active on some very early boxing message boards. Starting with "The Ultimate Golota Message Board".

    No!

That thing shut down after the Golota-Tyson debacle with a message on the front page that said something to the effect, "The Site is Now Closed! It's Been Fun!"

    :rofl

JETSKI or Hoax might remember better, but some message like that popped up I think the Monday after the Tyson fiasco.

So that was October 2000. I floated around another boxing site after that, which was hacked and taken down. It was called Boxing Wise. The poster here who goes by Dubblechin was over there way back then. Then I think I wound up at SO with Deebo for a month or 2, before finding ESB sometime in late 2002 - but back then I had the Radagast moniker still, and was resurrected as Rumsfeld in current form in March 2003.

I'm used to Rumsfeld now but Radagast's the cooler username. :good

Yeah, I crept around boxing message boards for years under that moniker, long before that moron Peter Jackson crucified that character along with everything else Tolkien in his films. Even when I was still Rumsfeld here, I was Radagast over at BA.

yes...he was caught cold....maybe he gets caught again early ala Patterson vs Liston, but yeah why not...could be a different fight if he makes it past the first 2 rounds

Yes, I absolutely would have bought a Lewis-Golota II Pay-Per-View! I heard that if Golota got a rematch with Lennox he would have redeemed himself for such a poor performance the first time around in Atlantic City. Why would I have paid to see a rematch though? Simple, it would have been another opportunity to watch potential history in the making with the crowning of the first-ever Polish heavyweight world champion. With the backing of his many loyal and stentorian fans who would again fill the arena, I see it be being a barnburner with Golota extra motivated to erase the bad memory from the first bout and really take it to Lennox. And it is quite possible that the Polish icon would take a points victory.

Could Lewis take those Golota body-shots?
Bowe couldn't, that man just couldn't take it!

Wasn't Golota awarded 1 million dollars for an adverse reaction to lidocaine injection before the Lewis fight?
Not sure if it was administered before or after bout but he did not look right on the ring walk that night. Panic attack or whatever.
Yes I would of bought the fight. His two fights with Bowe were hugely entertaining and had he defeated Grant which he was doing easily he would of had all the ingredients for a second chance. People knew who he was and he was exciting.
Lewis too big a puncher for Golota in the end but I somehow think he would of redeemed himself and did a little better than the 1st round blow out.
Rumsfeld agree with you on the Tyson fight - I felt after the second round Golota had survived and had just landed a nice little combo at the end and was like uh oh Mike may have a fight on his hands now. And then he quit again. However he apparently suffered a neck injury from one of Mike's shots doc maybe it was prudent thing to do.
