No, they did the right thing. Pavlik's PPVs with Hopkins and Taylor both were flops.

But anyway, if it did somehow end up on PPV, I'd definitely buy it.

It's def. PPV material, which I wouldn't mind paying. But then again why should we even complain if it isnt on PPV? A good fight to watch, could you imagine them working a deal and putting this fight like in CBS or FOX, something like that. Though it wouldn't happen in any light years. Boxing needs a fight just like this one with two great names fighting each other on the public network. At least once a year.

yeah but nobody wanted to see jermain taylor get his ass beat again

and against bhop the overwhelming thought was bhop was going to get knocked out quickly which is also something nobody wanted to pay for

this fight has way more intrigue than either of those

it would heavily depend on the undercard

as a main event alone its not enough to get me to buy

I did mean as an entire package. The way it's lined up, though, we've got a really good night's worth of boxing in the UK on October 3rd:good. We shall see.

Consider all the crap that is on PPV. Chavez JR against the bum of the month, a bizzarely dressed Roy Jones against this years Cherry, and all the other obscure crap. Williams -Pavlik would be a bargain in comparison.

As hard core fans we know all about Pavlik and Williams, and we know this should be a great fight. The casual fan knows that PW is a welterweight who fights in different divisions, and Pavlik is a skinny white kid who knocks people out. In other words there is a huge difference between how we see things, and how casual fans see them.

HBO is doing the right thing. Pavlik is not a PPV draw. He does one hell of a live gate, but up to now his PPV numbers stink. Arum tried to keep Pavlik off PPV. He did not want the Taylor rematch or the Hopkins fight on PPV. HBO would not listen to him.

Paul Williams has never been on PPV, and he does not turn much of a gate.

Pavlik/Williams on WCB is the right thing to do. I'd Hope HBO does an all new Countdown Show. I say all new because I wouldn't want them to regurgitate the same old **** from past fights.

As a true hardcore boxing fan i'll buy this ppv fight cause the styles of Williams vs Pavlik have the making of a bloody war. And also i'm a huge Paul Williams fan and it be great to buy the fight to watch Williams beat Pavlik in which it be great for Williams.

I agree that fighting just on hbo tv makes more sense. As boo mention, Williams has never been on ppv (well actually he has on the Mayweather vs Baldimor undercard fight in which the ppv buys were 325k) while Pavlik 2 hbo ppv buys stink like hell.

I would pay for the fite as it could be one of the best this year. I also think its a **** take if what you say is true that this fite is not PPV and Lacy/Jones is....even though i do know why Lacy/Jones is a PPV cos Neitehr Showtime or HBO would buy the fite and i can't really blame them either
