I agree.....no one can question Toney has had a problem with dedication and preparation in camp. But I think he's got this fire back in him that we havn't seen since him working to grab the crusier weight crown a few years back. For those who count James out....I understand but those are the same types of "fans" that wrote him off back at crusier weight when he shocked the world beating Jirvo!

Not a penny. I have to force myself to watch old, fat James Toney fight anyone these days, but I do it because I have to write about it after.

Montero has the best avatar on here. That chick is banging!

Toney should NEVER EVER be on a major PPV. Including UFC.

That all sounds good, but the truth is that Toney is 42 years old, has been very cavalier about staying in shape and eating properly, and he simply hasn't got it anymore. The reason he can't get a big fight is that he has looked so poor in his recent outings. The last time Toney truly looked good was in the first fight with Sam Peter. Since then, it's been all downhill. Time catches up with all fighters, and fighters who don't stay in shape and fail to develop good habits at the dinner table get old even sooner.

The truth is, if Toney had anything left to offer, he wouldn't be partaking in that farce this weekend. But there's simply no upside for a Klitschko or David Haye to beat up on a washed-up James Toney.

James is 42 yrs old and a fighter at this age can get old over night. But you don't see the kind of fighter that James is around these days. There just aren't many of them with his natrual ability, instinct and skills. Even at 42 there are reasons he's not getting the fights he wants and it's b/c they know James is a ****in problem for anyone.

If James doesn't have it anymore then Fres would have had a LOT easier time and would have been able to dispose of James. James was in terrible condition for that fight and he wasn't at all at his best. Yet he still was able to make it a close fight.

The rahman rematch James looked great until Rock bailed out. The big fights with Sam were also good but James in the rematch looked terrible.

The Klits maybe too big but Haye.:verysad He'll make easy work out of Haye in my opinion. Haye doesn't have a fraction of the abilty or skill James doens in the ring. He's got the youth, speed and athletisim but when you got skills like James.....It's a problem.

I'd love to see Haye step up and fight the "washed up" James that you speak of. And I'd give Haye a lot of props for doing so. I don't think he will b/c David knows the deal.....

Talking about Toney having a "*****" is on par with saying Hagler is a *****. That's just doesn't make any sense.

Erm no. I wouldn't pay a penny to watch Haye Vs Toney. I have been ringside for three of Haye's fights and they can be exciting but he simply has to step it up now or else become a laughing stock after all the talking he's done.

Haye Vs Wlad is all I care to see.

As for Toney, well he's paid his dues to boxing and should retire.

I don't like David Haye, but I still think he'd beat today's version of James Toney pretty easily. Believe me, I'd love to see Toney beat up Haye, but I am a realist. I think you mean well and believe what you are saying, but you are still seeing the Toney of many years ago rather than the one we are left with today. I will be glad to be proven wrong about it, if that happens.

Serious question charlie.... did you see Toneys last fight against greer?

How anyone can lend support to a farce of a fight like this, while guys like Wlad, Vitali, Adamek.... would be on the sidelines, all who would love to fight Haye (i dont want to get into negotiation arguments... fact is they would love to fight haye)

Not to mention the embarresment it would make of boxing, when you have a guy not even ranked in the top 15 heavyweights, whos fought three times in the last three years, who hasnt won a meaningful fight in almost as long, who is old, fat, shot and irrelevent right now... is fighting one of the top heavyweights in the world, and a 'champion' to boot?

If someone isnt going to complain about this fight, they probably should keep their mouth shut next time they are going to complain about ANY fight, because this would be about as bad as it gets for a fight with two names, all things considered.

It would be one thing if this was Toney vs another contender, or Toney vs a prospect, or even Toney vs a fellow vet.... but taking up time, and jumping ahead of everyone else who actually deserves a fight, by having this fight would be sad affairs.

Nobody cares cuz everyone likes toney and the press conferences would be 'fun', but it only shows how fickle people are in their praise and hate. The fight would be completely meaningless and would continue to gunk up heavyweight boxing, and be nothing more but yet another situation that is part of the problem, rather then part of the solution.

    just imo
