Yeah, Toney is a good clown so people tend to overlook his huge deficiencies in recent years. Toney takes a lot of very hard shots to the head now in every fight, even the ones against nobodies. I shudder to think of the damage a Klitschko or Haye would inflict on him. Anyone who really cares about James Toney should be urging him to retire while he can still tie his own shoelaces.
Exactly. Toney fans wanting to see this fight eather are not up to date with their boy (meaning, they are in denial about how far he has slipped, one look at his training, and his last actual fight, can tell you all one needs to know) or simply delusional. Toney vs Wlad, Vitali, or Haye, is just a detrement to Toneys health and nothing more.
Yes! And it was a terrible performance. But at the end of the day how does a 22 yr ATG like Toney get up for a Geer? It's hard. ANd I'm giving Toney the benefit of the doubt! I know JT is still capable of being a top fighter in the HW divsion the way it stands as of now. Which is still very impressive give JT is NOT a HW fighter. Haye doesn't HAVE to face James! He could, but won't. IT's HIGH risk and low reward and even though James is UP and DOWn in terms of his performances recently a lot can be accredited to the inability to get the big names to step up....Even when he was in the top 10!. My thing is Haye's NOT facing Wald or Vit...he's not facing a guy like Adamek...he's talking about Audley!atsch James is a better choice in opponent than Harrison. At least I think so. James is in GREAT shape now...and I'm hopeful that will continue when he returns to boxing. James being Fat is always gonna be the case...even at 168 he was soft looking. He's never gonna look like Wald or Vit and on the flip side Wald and Vit will NEVER have the kind of natural skills and ability that James has. I do agree with it being embarrassing for a guy who isn't in the top 15 to get a title shot! But it does happen from time to time and those guys don't have a fraction of the credentials and accomplishments James has. And I do respect your opinion Kirk....always have. Most of hte time we agree but on this we have a difference of opinion which is fine with me.
