But Ray wouldn`t be the legend he went on to become, beating Benitez, Hearns and Duran, how could he not want those memories?

Speaking as someone who has achieved both. Olympic gold for sure.

And then there are those who claim he didn't think his style would suit the transition and he enjoyed being a minor Italian celebrity - boxing super cop - and those who really didn't rate him who think he feasted on the young up and comers in the am scene because he couldn't hang with the men in the pros.

Personally I think he had it pretty sweet in Italy with his job and didn't want to risk being an Audley.

undisputed may be a different deal. but just Maybe. pro Boxing is so manipulated, i have lost alot of respect for it.

too many fake records. Amateurs/ olympic Boxers have it so much tougher it´s rediculous.

By champion of the world you mean unified champion? or what kind of champion?

If it is unified champion, I would prefer being unified champion better than a gold medalist, by far.

PS: imagine fighting in front of 80k people rooting for you and to win by ko unifying after a good but not too harmful war. There's no gold medal that can make up for that.

I thought he did enough to edge Cammarelle but should of been out in the first wherein he got his ears boxed off.

I'd rather prefer to be Stiverne instead of Harrison when I look back at my career. So yes, a world title is more valuable.

I posted this question because Ray Leonard prefered winning his gold medal above being the undisputed champ at welter and middleweight.

As far as prestige I would say Gold medal. Sure its amateurs but there is one gold medal and 4 major trinket belts that can be bought really. But winning a title would give you a nice payday so im still going with world title lol

Audley Harrison won a gold medal. That in itself kinda devalues it.

I always thought that leonard was a liar and a hypocrite. Probably when he said so he was lying or just being a hypocrite.

As you can see... I never liked him very much, cant help myself, I have a bias :(
