Despite everything Mayweather did achieve he never became undisputed at any weight class. Had he achieved that feat would his career have gone up in your books or would it not have made a difference?

Had he became undisputed but still ducked Pacquiao in his prime and fight a 0-0-0 guy to get his 50th win?? Nope! Wouldn’t look at him any differently.

I used to love Floyd as a fighter he was great but the older I get I can see that his career was a lot of smoke and mirrors and he did seem to set the precedent for all the BS behaviour with fight negotiations that we are so used to today.

It's really about who you beat and less about belts. Though I think unification is important I'd rather see someone fight the best rather than beat lesser Champs just for belts

If Pac wasn’t in his prime, and he beat Thurman years later who beat Porter that was KO’d by Bud and is Bud’s 2nd best win. Then what the hell does that say about Bud Crawford?

Mayweather fought the whos who of each division he was in with the exception of Pacquiao. At welterweight there are a couple names he could have fought but didn't like Bradley who was on the top 10 p4p list for about 2 years if I recall correctly but look who he fought instead.

    It's about names, not undisputed

Floyd didn’t go undisputed because Baldomir didn’t have the money to pay all the fees, ppl don’t like the character money may so they try to diminish his resume

The meaning of that phrase changes from moment to moment. It's even more ephemeral than "P4P" at this point.

Would look at Floyd different had he fought big named boxer before they were old men.had he fought Pacquiao when the fight was first talked about instead of waiting 7 years for their skills to have diminished.the only way to see who is truly better is for them to have fought in their prime when they still have their skills.great fighters want to fight other great fighters they don't hide from them.

Agreed but Floyd still has one of the greatest resumes of all time if you really look at it

Floyd is one of the best that ever did it. Looking at him different won't change that. It's a fact.

Four straps and all the divisions cripple boxing, and unifying is the way for a broken system to convince us there is some purpose and potential sense of achievement in its existence.

Yes minus tough prime opponents. he did fight 2 top opponents in their prime Corrales & Castillo & every person I have talked to believe he lost the first fight against Castillo & copy box numbers prove this. Castillo landed 203 punches to Floyd's 157 punches. Castillo landed 40 percent of his punches Floyd 35 percent. Castillo was coming forward all night.floyd was given a gift decision that night.all great boxers have loses because all great fighters want to prove themselves the best fighting other great fighters.speaking of records the great robinson who Floyd feels he is better than went 93 fights without losing & only 1 loss in his first 129 fights.he won the middle weight belt be 5 times a record & did it when there was was only 1 belt to fight for unlike 4 today. Chavez went 90 fights without losing.carlos Monzon went 83 fights without a loss .willie pep went 74 fights before losing then after losing went another 63 without a loss.
