I think he did the right thing by regaining the welterweight championship against Margo.

Floyd has quicker hands, reflexes, and a bigger bag of tricks. Watching him destroy Mosley doesn't hurt his chances either.

My main point though was that Forrest showed how Mosley, even at his absolute peak, could be thrown of his game by a smart boxer.

Yep, there are quite a few that would have their chances with him.

Mayweather is vastly overrated at 147 due to outclassing a lot of subpar opponents.

Some might scoff at the list just produced but they need only remember that the guys being discussed are CLEARLY superior to anyone Floyd has fought at 147 if we take them at top form.

    Top 15.. no.. **** I don't think he' a top 20 welter.

Did somebody say Duran & Whitaker vs. May was a 50/50 fight... What on God's Green Earth is this site coming 2. They both handily beat May at 147.

Duran wasn't exactly superman at 147 and higher. Neither was Whitaker.

these percieved achievement based rankings are absolutely crazy to me(?).

there were dozens of Welterweights from the 30s & 40s that would've punched lumps out of him, they would'nt have given him the space to play games either.

great fighter sure he is, but as I say IF he had to fight the absolute best every couple of months for years on end... would he still have been a top fighter among them?

    they DID IT,

as to PBF and his ilk we would have to say NO to many of them.

Can't say i don't love that fight and it's the one saving grace he's given in recent years, but be honest he didn't even deserve the fight. What was it? one fight in a year against shot Mayorga?

At least he can try and argue he earned the fight with Cotto by beating Collazo.

What do you make of and Old DeLahoya giving PBF all he could handle, and not in Oscar`s prime ? Do you think Oscar would fare better at his peak ?

He didn't give him all he could handle in the sense that it was close because Oscar hardly landed any punches. The punchstats were something like 2-1 in Mayweather's favour and that's been generous to Oscar. That fight was at 154, were Oscar had massive weight advantages of probably around 15lbs as he always cut water and added weight back. Oscar also wasn't ancient he was 4 years older

In Oscar's prime he was quite 1 handed and not a very good ring general. Many myself included had him losing to a 34yo Whitaker and Quartey. Against A Class pure boxers he often is either outboxed or ineffective at applying pressure

Watch how ineffective Trinidad was against a Delahoya trying to do a Mayweather impression and imagine Mayweather utilising a backfoot pot shotting strategy against Trinidad. I can't see that version of Tito winning a round

PP.. he still doesn't beat Whitaker or a good version of Duran. No way are those 50/50 fights

DLH didn't do a mayweather impression, that was pretty standard, rigid stick and move modern amatuer influenced stuff. He'd often punch in bunches when he briefly came down off his toes as well(until he just decided to run late on), which mayweather doesn't do much of at Welter and doesn't have Oscar's solid punch.

Mayweather doesn't have hte legs or activity for that sort of aproach at this weight.

Then again, tito was so thick in the ring, maybe he would find a way to get schooled, but that range and size advantage would be tough for Floyd to get much off on without being in Tito's wheelhouse for return fire imo.

You made some good points. I go back to Oscar against Mosley. It seemed that Oscar had troble with Mosely`s speed an abaility to pull the trigger. I thought he was giving PBF some problems when he had his jab working. But, against real good, fleet footed boxers, Oscar did have some problems...

:patsch I KNEW I'd missed a request! Won't forget now but I'll warn you, not a great fight. Brown was actually using his skills then and seems a little intimidated by Starling's phaicality. Starling chases and doesn't let his hands go enough (typical) but it's essential viewing I guess.
