I know. These men were welterweights, really though, although Trinidad looked good at the weight.

I know. And he unified the belts and he beat some good fighters. But you are just spouting his resume - what you need to do if you want to compare him to the greatest fighters who ever lived is compare his resume to those other ATG fighters. Then you will see that calls for him to be installed in the top 5 pound for pound all time are pretty ridiculous.

Maybe. I thought the Taylor fights were both very very close and i consider judges finding either way for each fight pretty reasonable. There wre no "robberies" here. Regardless, the record books show that Hopkins lost twice to Jermain Taylor. Taylor is no world beater.

Tarver and Pavlik are both great wins, and I credit him for Wright, although there is no way Wright should be considered top 5 pound for pound at the weight limit they were fighting at and Pavlik was not in my top 5 pound for pound at the time of his fight with Hopkins.

Regardless - so what? You're telling me loads of stuff I already know. You have to show why Hopkins deserve a spot in the p4p all time list based upon his relative achievements/skillset/resume. Unless you can show a relative case you are just telling me things I already know OCCASIONALLY IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

I think his best wins are

    1 - Pavlik (same size)
    2 - Trinidad (smaller man)
    3 - Tarver (bigger man)

This is assuming you regard Hopkins as a natural middle.

Hopkins does not break my top 5 with those extra wins on his resume.

I have him, at the moment, somewhere in the 30-40 range.

BTW thats a great list McGrain:good

Ok...You want me to compare Bernard Hopkins resume to Bob Fitsimmons, Mickey Walker, Joe Gans, Jimmy Wilde, Stanley Ketchel, Jack Britton, and George Dixon...........

First off, your basis for ranking these guys where you do is based on bull**** from people who've never seen the likes of a bernard hopkins...

Thanks man. It does change quite a lot as i'm reading and reviewing footage, learning about boxing, but i'm pretty happy with the 30. It gets a bit spongy around 50, my list, but I have been up to 100.

B-Hop is already in the top 10 ever.
Boxing exists around 100 years: It's hard to compare era's, but for sure modern fighters today are at least as good as fighters in the past.
Since it's nearly impossible to compare era's divide Boxing into 5 periods of 20 years and select 2 fighters from each era and then you'll have the top 10.
Since B-Hop is one of the two best fighters of the last 20 years, he belongs in the top 10 in my opinion (the other is Whitaker).

    My list:

    1. Robinson
    2. Armstrong
    3. Greb
    4. Pepp
    5. Ali
    6. Duran
    7. Langford
    8. Leonard
    9. Hopkins
    10. Whitaker
