Would you rate Canelo over Mayweather if he wins in November?

People do the same thing to Canelo. Remember Canelo was too scared to fight GGG, then he fights his twice, beats him and people still won't give him credit for it. Canelo put on a masterpiece in the first GGG fight, but no one admits it was, so why should Floyd get credit for putting on a masterpiece against a drained Canelo when half this board claims they won't give Canelo credit if Kovalev is at a catchweight? Then it's announced that Canelo Kovalev is at the Full 175 and they just switch to another excuse.

    Absolutely I have. Have YOU?

I've only seen one or two fighters make a case for Canelo being greater and they were very respectful.

If this was Mayweather vs Pacquiao legacy you can bet your ass this would become a cesspool in a heart beat.

Not sure what kind of make believe world you live in, but by this forum's standards the posts in this thread with the exception of the usual Canelo haters (who usually happen to be GGG die hards and Pac die hards) have been very civil.

I think i kinda agree with you here. People find any excuse to discredit a fighter they don't really like. If the other side agrees to the catch weight then it can't then be used as an excuse and the reason that the fighter lost the fight.

My opinion is that canelo is not in the same league as manny but I would imagine you disagree

I think they are both destined to be greats and before anyone questions it I know most have controversies in there careers but canelo has too much around him

You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, and you are not incorrect. However, Canelo is still in his prime, and he is daring to be great. When he is past his prime we will be able to better gauge his status in the ATG ranking.

Draining people to death and picking on geriatrics with stacked scorecards does not an amazing resume make. FWIW Floyd pulled the same crap against a lot of guys.

True fella . Tbh I can’t really slate him as not ATG as his career is still ongoing . I just can’t get over the golovkin first fight as it was unjust and unfair that a guy lost a decision that should have gone his way . The second fight was really tight and tbh I though it was a draw but I didn’t complain that canelo got the decision . But end of the day it’s not gonna he fighters fault .

I thought a draw was fair in the first fight. I had never seen Golovkin so timid before or after that.

I know one thing though after 24 rounds there is nothing between both fighters and they also have granite chins and can’t knock each other out. When they both retire the respect for each other will be amazing as there is not many fighters that have shared 24 really close rounds

Canelo was not weight drained. He came in extra heavy for Mayweather. Mayweather weighed 150 fight night while Canelo weighed 170. Canelo still to this day have stamina issues. No excuses for him losing to Mayweather. Just out classed by a master boxer.

He got outclassed and should have. Im just making the point that its not a great win because that Canelo was nowhere near the fighter he is now.

No, I would not. If Canelo beat Kovalev convincingly or by way of K.O., I would not rate him over Mayweather anyway. But I guess that it's gonna be a close fight that Canelo wins again. We all know that nobody can beat Canelo by a close fight.
