The guys at the top when he first became champ were people like Thomas, Spinks, Berbick, Tubbs, Tucker, Smith. Mike beat all of these and most of the other top guys in the late 80s the only 2 i can think of that he did not are Witherspoon(never fought him)Douglas who he lost to.You could say Holyfield as well i suppose.When Mike lost to Douglas Bowe and Lewis were not even real contenders they became champs whilst Mike was in jail and if i remember rightly by the time he was released both had lost thier titles and Mike picked up where he left off untill he ran into fellow 80s fighter Holyfield who by that time had been written off completley having lost to both moorer and the rubber match with Bowe.
The champs he beat after his jail term were Seldon and Bruno like it or not they were the men to beat cos they had belts.Lewis although considered a major threat to anyone was back in the role of contender and Bowe was pretty much a has been.
Im guessing you are too young to remember Tyson in his prime it certainly was not after his release from jail.
