Would you really be surprised if Hopkins beats Calzaghe?

  1. Interesting how when you have your back against the wall knowing your fighter will lose and are not willing to backup your statements you resort to petty insults.
Thankfully I would never resort to such low standards; I will just present my case for my fighter as I see it and if I am wrong then I expect to be pulled up on it.

But I'm not wrong. You know this.

Hmmm.....I feel the Mitchell stoppage was fine, but the Sheika stoppage was premature and the Manfredo one was plain embarrasing. Stoppages are often earlier in Britain but thats not always down to bias, I think were just a bit more squeamish.:D

Thats your problem mate, you dont do that which is why I took exception to your presence in the first place. You have had nothing to contribute besides Calzaghe back slapping. You tried joining in the Lennox debate & made a prat of yourself. You need to-

    *Lighten up
*Expand your boxing knowledge or *Show us you have further boxing knowledge
*Stop the constant one liner, Calzaghe back slapping comments or at least try & cut down
*Stop trying to goad me into a bet with reverse psychology as I am not a child & dont appreciate being patronised
    OR
    *Leave

I don't doubt for a second Joe would have won anyway but I felt it was premature for a world title fight espeacially considering Mitchell had never been stopped before.

  6. These are just your views; you're entitled to them just don't expect me to accept them - it's called opinion.
Are you willing to publically say I was right when Joe wins or will you just blabber on about Hopkins age, or my 'Calzaghe back slapping' comments whilst hiding behind your own hatred for all things Joe?

For the record if Hopkins wins I will publically here on this forum announce that I over estimated Joe. There is no shame in this, I am a fan. You are simply biased against joe for reasons I cannot fathom though I have a few theories.

I will publically say you were right. I have no intention of going anywhere. I have no emotional attachment to either fighter & will be watching for the spectacle.

Please do venture your opinions about my supposed hatred for Joe because I will simply own you & make you look more a fool than you aleady are.

  8. I read the 1st paragraph of that and I thought "hmm, he seems to have some degree of honour - maybe I was wrong about him"

Then I read paragraph 2 and realized that you will never change

Read the thread where it talks about who you want to win the Calzaghe vs Hopkins fight and you will see what he means. :good

You seem genuinely hurt by that.

If you have something worthwhile listening to say I'm all ears. Please enlighten me as to why I hate Joe so much.

  11. No hurt, disapointed.

Yet you still don't venture into my supposed hatred for Joe. You get into dangerous ground when you try & second guess what other people are thinking. Especially when a simple search of my post history would quell any fears you have about my feelings towards your favourite fighter.;)

  13. I seem to recall you resolutely saying "Hopkins would UD" Joe only to later slowly change to view saying the fight will be close all the while latching on to my posts and generally throwing personal insults at me all the while screaming "resume!" "resume!" yet to me never actually saying how Hopkins will win; although you have several times asked me for my diagnosis.

Joe wins because all prior tests prove he has a granite chin. Hopkins meanwhile can be argued hasn't taken bombs to the face fair do but that doesn't mean his chin is solid.

Moreover Joe is faster than Hopkins with better footwork and a greater degree of offence & defence.

Joe also is naturally bigger than Hopkins, he walks around at LHW anyway and has to drain himself to get 168 so Hopkins is fighting a natural LHW - the weight will have zero bearing on Joe, if anything it will make him more powerful with better stamina.

Hopkins has looked shoddy in his last few fights whereas Joe has only gotten better.

People also point to Hopkins at LHW but beating Tarver is nothing special and I recall people not really giving Hopkins much chance over Tarver. it seems the whole Tarver fight is the one that's propelled him to this pedastool of greatness yet since beating Tarver he hasn't chased the other LHW's and choose instead to chase an overweight winky - barely winning. Hopkins is more opportunist than this legendary strategic ring god.

he also opted out of fighting Joe years back when he was closer to his natural weight and at optimum performance. A fighter knows risks and he choose to turn do god knows how many millions to continue racking up defences against nobodies until Taylor forced him to move up where he still bypassed Joe.

Sure you can say Joe's resume isn't good but that doesn't mean he hasn't recently fought the fighters people want to see him fight. Everyone wanted Kessler and Joe accepted after chasing Hopkins and Taylor - and Joe won, more convincly than 90% of the boxing fanbase expected!

Now guys like Taylor need Joe - and want him. Bernard has no choice than to fight him after Joe got his back to the while and Hopkins made racial remarks to joe in front of the whole world and his own people; to have not taken the fight would have made him look like a coward.

Also, if you look at Joe's early fights against these supposed no-names you will still see he has immense and undeniable talent!

Lastly and most importantly you only have to look at their respective recent matches to know who's going to win.

Discussions Joe vs discussing Bernard differs in one huge way:

    - When it comes to how someone can beat Joe, it is purely hypothetical. The guy hasn't lost a boxing match since age 17!!!!! Lacy was supposed to it with his power, Kessler with his youth and we saw what happened.

    - When it comes to beaing Bernard, three fighters have done it before, two of them clearly lesser fighters than Joe.

As far as a winner's mentality goes, Joe is on par with Ali for me, Hopkins is not. He lost fights he should have won against Taylor, a clearly less skilled fighter than Bernard. Joe will never ever lose to someone he should beat skill - wise, if someone is going to beat Joe, it would have to be a truly extraordinary fighter. Hopkins is a career overachiever and I have great respect for him, but he isn't gifted enough to beat Joe.
