A good training partner of mine hadn't come in the gym for a while so we were all asking each other where he went. Came in one day and told us he had the Hep and didn't want to give it to any of us. Really nice guy and it was very sad that day.
How contagious is Hep when it comes to body contact and sweat and all that? I know as far as HIV goes, only one reported case of HIV transmission in a fight. Two brothers (i mean same parents, not black guys) got into it, the one had HIV the other didnt. the one with HIV got the better of it, got a sorta street fighting full mount, and head butted his brother. Both bleeding from the head, and the one on top gave HIV to the one on the bottom (unless thats just they story they told, anyhow). As far as real stuff I have seen, it grosses me out how many wrestlers have ****ing full body skin herpes, its like a normal thing for this ****ing guys.
Hep is much more contagious from what I heard. A drop of HIV on an open surface doesn't last more than an hour. Hep can survive a week.
It will pretty tough to catch HIV during a fight but not impossible. If you both have open wounds and somehow rub them, infected blood from one fighter can get to the other and infect him. If you want to spar with an HIV positive and you are aware of it there is practically no chance of contracting it. As soon as someone gets cut you stop the fight and that's it. All that said I will probably be nervous to spar an HIV positive .
