Would you say Wlad fights alot like Larry Holmes??

he beat L.spinks, norton, shavers, weaver, berbick, snipes, cooney, witherspoon, williams and some other decent fighters.

that's a pretty good resume.. much better than wlad's!!

 

I don't want it to seem like I am bad-mouthing Spinks because I think he was a great fighter, at LHW. At HW I think a lot of Wlad's opponents would defeat him, Byrd, Brewster, Chagaev, Sanders, Chambers. Spinks just wasn't a legit HW.

 

None of those guys are any better than the guys Wlad is fighting now.

 

Spinks' heavyweight record is two wins over Larry Holmes, and loss to Iron Mike Tyson, yet that makes him worse than a chump like Eddie Chambers?

Here is my list of Wlad opponents that are better than Spinks:

 

Holmes didn't knock his opponents out either Mr. Funnyguy.

Who has a better right hand? Left hook? Wladimir's jab is much more powerful than Larry's.

 

Wladimir would KO Holmes :deal Prime for prime. Klitschko KO's Spinks too. Small guys don't stand a chance against Wlad. See Chris Byrd 1 & 2

 

Don't forget that Spinks beat also beat Cooney at HW, another guy who is now considered a borderline ATG.

 

Are you crazy? Holmes beat guys like Renaldo Snipes and Scott LeDoux, what chance would Wlad have?

I favor Holmes over Wlad, but I can understand picking Wlad. It's a tough call. I agree that Wald would beat Spinks. Wlad is too big for Spinks.
Still, just because Wlad is a good fighter, it does not mean that he has beaten great competition. The two do not necessarily coincide. Fact is, his competition is pretty awful. His best opponent is Chris Byrd, then it gets really terrible after that. Spinks is clearly better than anyone Wlad fought.

 

Shavers would have wiped the floor with the defensively deficient current heavyweights. I can't think of a single heavyweight Wlad has fought, who Shavers couldn't easily stop.

Norton was just flat out better than them, no question.

I also rate Cooney or Witherspoon higher than every Wlad opponent, including Chagaev.

Holmes resume isn't great though, but he beat them all and they were marginally better. It's important to remember how dominant Holmes was.

Maybe Wlad would beat Spinks? However, Spinks would dominate Wlad's two best opponents, Byrd and Chagaev.

 

none of those guys beat spinks.the only one who stands a chance is chris bryd.and even then, it would be a very close one.
