Would you scrap the super six to see a better tournament?

The super six is designed to watch the best SMWs fight each other but right now would you scrap the super six to see a tournament with Bute vs Ward and the winner faces the winner of Froch vs Abraham? Doesn't that sound like something more interesting and obviously the right thing to do?

They were thinking about it i think when kessler pulled out, having dirrell vs ward and froch vs abraham as the semis. I have no idea why they didnt go with that and instead brought in Johnson and Bika. Still a big fan of the super 6 and with all the inevitable problems that come with a new concept i hope showtime have learnt and the next one will be better in terms of fluidity and also wil be a bit shorter.

The S6 needs to go on to some kind of conclusion. I hope that afterward Showtime will take a look at their mistakes, and give it another go.

It was a mistake to exclude Bute and Pavlik on the basis of cost. Sure, they cost more up front, but they would bring a hell of a lot more money and excitment to the tournament than Green, Johnson, and Bika. If you are going to claim "the best will fight the best" you simply cannot exclude fighters on the basis of cost.

It was a mistake to spread the fights out the way they did. Every card during the round robin portion should have included 3 fights with all 6 fighters. If you miss the card for any reason, your opponent wins by forfeit. No if, ands, or buts!

It was a mistake to allow disputes over venues. This entire tournament should have taken place in Vegas, AC, or at MSG. Put every fight in the same neutral venue, no exceptions.

It was a mistake to scramble around dragging up dead bodies because fighters dropped out. No replacements! If a fighter drops out for any reason, his scheduled opponents get a forfeit.

I agree with everything here. I'm certainly not surprized at how this tournament turned out. It's just way too long and open for problems because of it.

Allan Green was signed into the tournament and Lou DiBella wasn't going to let him get boned over.

Everybody would rather see Bute vs. Ward and Abraham vs. Froch. I'd honestly prefer the hypothetical match-ups to be Ward vs. Abraham and Bute vs. Froch. This is a pointless thread, as it has been stated many times there is a 0%, 2-3%, that Bute would somehow get involved in the Super Six field.

The super 6 has fallen apart but that just means theres lessons to be learned for the next time they think of something like this. I wana see it through to some sort of conclusion now though.

Next time lets have all venues agreed on before anybody has fought anybody, rules to injurys and timelines, no newcomers or replacements when your gone thats it. Maybe have more people in to begin with.

**** the whole sport needs some kind of overhaul.

  11. Boo... Please...

You slated the S6 hugely, and Pavlik himself criticised it.

Pavlik wanted nothing above 160 at the time, and having lost to Bhop in the way he did - there was no reason he should have been included at all.

It should be a knockout type system, not a round robin. You get the 8 best and seed them and let them fight off against each other and the one left standing becomes the king of the castle.

A welterweight 6 man tournament would have been awesome. But Pacquiao-Mayweather would have ended up just like Ward-Dirrell
