If you're a hulking Olympic Gold medalist boxer with a rematch clause, would you step aside?

I wouldn't find myself in that situation. In my world, I would have whooped Usyk with ease. He would be offered step aside money.
Reality, I get whooped and pray for step aside money.

Only a stupid person would turn down a €15,000,000 check for sitting on your couch. Joshua should just take the money and he will get an undisputed shot the beginning of next year because there is no doubt usyk and fury will have a rematch clause, whyte will also get a payoff too.

Joshua could take the money with the stipulation he fights the winner later in the fall. Geez a 10 year old promoter could figure this one out

If I was a big stiff robot with minimal lateral movement, I'd probably have difficulty stepping sideways.

    Yes.

I mean if it was a fluke loss maybe not but he got anhialated by a superior boxer and he's massive underdog in the rematch so yeah.

Not the same if you have 150 millions in the bank, or only 150 euros.

Had I 150 millions I would chase glory. Had I only 150 euros I would take the money and run, and later on.... I would chase glory if I can.

150 millions... 165 millions... yes, not the same. But who cares, not a problem. Plus if you win, you can make even more money using that glory that you earnt by not stepping aside, so you dont actually lose money (as long as you win... if you lose you are screwed).

If the point of being a fighter is to make money and someone wants to pay me to step aside, yea, only an idiot would turn that down.

Best answer ever. I honestly am not sure if joshua CAN step aside, even if he wants to... :risas3:

AJ has all the money he’s ever gonna need.
Plus there’s never a guarantee he’d get an immediate shot at the winner especially if there was a draw or a controversial decision that created public demand for a rematch.

$15m is 50% more than Caleb Plant’s highest ever payday against Canelo, and he would be getting that for A) doing nothing, and B) a guaranteed shot at the undisputed championship. The only payoff is that he has to wait a few months to a year longer. It’s a no brainer.
