Floyd is 35. He doesn't have much time left. Every fight from here on out, he will continue to lose something physically. The longer he fights, the higher the chances he loses. As for the question, i don't have a problem with a rematch given what i said above which will rezult in a more compettive imo.
I could realistically see him fighting the Ortiz-Berto winner at the end of the year, then Canelo in 2013. Kirkland isn't on Cotto's level IMO.
No. Cotto did the best he could do which was last 12 rounds and snip a few rounds here and there on activity. A second fight, probably with 8 oz gloves would see much of the same but with Floyd ending Cotto much earlier.
Yeah, alvarez vs cotto could serve as an eliminator for a possible rematch, don't think hell get an immediate one.
Now there's an idea! Hopefully GBP takes the risk. Two birds with one stone, assuming they feel Canelo is ready to step up and keep Cotto's momentum going.
Floyd was a clear winner, but the fight was always competitive and entertaining so yeah i'd be happy to sit through part 2.
Yeah, I'm in agreeance with the consensus. Cotto-Alvarez is the matchup to make. Alvarez showed he can stay calm under the experience of a once great fighter in Mosley, and just go to work and do his job. I was very pleased with Canelo's repertoire and how he balanced working the body and head. Mosley was repeatedly getting hurt to both body and head and the look on his face was telling. I say Canelo beats Cotto in a competitive fight but beats him rather clearly. As for a Mayweather-Cotto rematch? Absolutely not. Cotto is'nt going to give out more then he did last night. Tazo, Cotto made Mayweather have to work, absolutely. But the majority of those rounds were not competitve enough to warrand anyone wanting to pay to see a rematch. Mayweather is still fighthing at a high level. He should take care of the Pacquiao mismatch and secure not only the biggest but the easiest payday for himself in the history of the sport. Its a pity that Mayweather's resume will read like Roy Jones, lots of missed opportunities to put real names of fighters that were fighting at a high level at various points of Mayweather's career. He can still add to his legacy though with fights against Martinez, Alvarez, and even Khan if Khan were to be sucessful vs Peterson.
