Wouldn't it be nice to boycott a fight?

I swear. If one of these big fights that they have us wait for ages finally happens, how satisfying would it be that nobody buys it. Maybe it'll teach these idiots to stop the "marinating" bull****.

We had the chance to do it with Fury vs Chisora 3 but even they managed to sell out a stadium in December.

There's good reason to believe ticket sales and PPV buys were exaggerated...

... but the fight still sold waaay more than it should've done :(

Anyway, the backlash against Fury has been vastly bigger than I anticipated. I fully expected the majority of casual fans to go along with Fury's and Frank's nonsense, but it seems otherwise. I think there's A LOT of reasons that have led up to this, but imo, people tolerated Fury-Chisora 3 because the Usyk fight was perceived to be guaranteed for 2023

When I hear boxing boycott I always remember when boxing "influencers" back in the day wanted to boycott Roy Jones because they insisted he never fought anyone.

(Of course, now that light heavyweight period is when people think Jones fought some of his best opponents. But, at the time, the experts thought his opponents were awful.)

So they staged what they called their "ROYCOTT" when Jones signed to fight who they determined was the truly "terrible" Julio Gonzalez. They were so outraged that Jones had signed to fight Gonzalez, who had recently engaged in what's now considered a classic light heavyweight war with the "terrible" Julian Letterlough.

So they went online and told everyone not to buy the Jones-Gonzalez fight because Gonzalez was unworthy, and they insisted the undercard sucked and Jones should be fighting a unification with Dariusz Michalczewski.

So everyone got all "lathered up," and it was a very poor selling card, despite the fact that "I" bought it ... and it was a really good show.

Jones-Gonzalez was entertaining. Erik Morales fought In Jin Chi on the undercard. (Everyone who boycotted, of course, had no idea who Chi was.) And it was our first look (or mine at least) at Ricardo Mayorga, who fought "Six Heads" Lewis. They even showed some of the Miguel Cotto fight, if I recall correctly.

But they all beat their chest and bragged about how they had "beaten" Roy Jones and now he better fight someone "decent."

Then, of course, Julio Gonzalez went on to beat Glen Johnson, Montell Griffin and Julio was actually the one who DETHRONED Dariusz Michalczewski ... which showed how much all those "expert influencers" actually knew what they were talking about.

Long story short, sometimes fans should appreciate the fights they DO get. Everyone this week is harping about Fury-Usyk, me included, and while it does suck that they aren't fighting, the fights we do end up getting may be better.

Fury-Usyk "stylistically" didn't exactly look like it was going to be a "thriller." My initial reaction was that it may turn out more like Wlad-Ibragimov.

Side note: R.I.P. Julio and Julian. They were fun fighters to watch.)

Furys next fight needs to be boycotted. Boycott the meaningless fights so we get the ones we want.

I didn't watch Fury vs Chisora 3. Wish no one had.
